    consistency

The menu looks better smaller, though you may want to use the same sort of texture as in your graphics.

With the top part, wouldn't you want to have the white border like everything else ?

The 'plant' (?) next to the castle tower was good I think in the first design because it gave more depth as an added layer... Just noticed you removed the shadows of the sand etc, wasn't it the original concept though ? I like the idea of the playful 'paper cutout' look, it's kind of lost in the new design (unless I'm viewing them in the wrong order (?)), now it looks more flat and less original ...

Dear Carole thanks for your feedback, appreciate it. will work on the navigation..c", You have a good point with the white border on the header-image. It must have slipped my mind. The plant has been moved to the right of the content-area. you are very observant, the shades from the footer has been removed on this image, but it will be brought back in, and add more depth.

    Nav + Content Tweeks

Posted on Jul 18, 2010 at 10:30 AM

The background steals the attention of the work. it looks as though lots of time has been spent on the back ground and the actual content was just second thought.

I agree with previous comments the Nav needs some texture like the rest of the site.

It is hard to say with no images but the body really needs some work.

hey Nick thanks for your feedback. I guess you're right about the priority of the background and content-area. But as soon as I'm happy with the design of the site generally I will pay more attention to this part..c",

    content area

Posted on Jul 20, 2010 at 9:25 AM

how is this going to work on different resolutions ?

I like the design idea but it looks crowded and the content in relation to all the other elements it's to small, the content is what is important but in this design it's lost in the design elements that instead of getting in the way of the content should help your users to get to it and understand it better.

the menu is better to be positioned at the top like the first image you have but the design in the menu is not good. You are using gradient on the menu ... why ? you don't have any gradient on the rest of the page, it's a cardboard cutout design so I don't get the gradient.

I would like to see how this looks for bigger resolutions if it is possible :).

hey Ionut. thanks for your comment. You're right about the content-area, it needs to be bigger. I have not payed a lot of attention to this part yet, but I'm getting there..c",

What concerns the navigation-menu, I have not yet decided wether it will have icons, hover-effect or gradients with textured background. Any suggestions?

well you could use some icons, but text it just fine. what I suggest here is making the menu items separate and have them like the header and the footer, cardboard cutouts, think of it like you find the words in a magazine and you just cut them out. Try something like that and see how it looks

good idea. I think that will certainly build upon the cardboard/paperclip theme. thanks!

    Use the textured navigation tabs

Posted on Jul 17, 2010 at 9:34 AM

I like the first design with the textured navigation tabs of the second design.

In the first design, the guppy logo is awesome! It showcases your design abilities so the larger, the better.

The gradient nav tabs are too conservative for the page. The textured tabs are better. Also, I like the vertical layout of the nav bar.

    Overall, brilliant!

dear Michelle thanks for your feedback. I agree that the navigation should have the textured background. It will complete the concept more
