Hi Robin, you seem to have a good concept behind your design, but I feel it can be much better.
Choose a new font. The font you have used here is too overused in the design community in my opinion. Take some more time looking around places like dafont to find a good font that has not been used so much.
Don't put what you do in your logo. You shouldn't incorporate a phrase in your logo if it is not done so properly. Putting a phrase below your logo without it being incorporated into your overall design is a bad practice that seems good, but really takes away from your logo's universal appeal.
Work on spacing. Your letters are a bit too close. Add a pixel or two between each one.
Overall, this is good first try at your logo. Here are some tutorials i found helpful when I started to redo my brand's logo. Hope they help you as much as me.

Hi Robin, I like the concept of the V being a check as well.
Just a few things you may want to consider. If you have a program such as Illustrator it would be good to make this a vector graphic the edges of the letters look 'sqooshy'. If you make it vector this will allow you to make it as big or as small as you want without loosing any quality to the letter edges.
It may help this logo if have the second line in a contrasting typeface a serif to a san-serif mix.
The alignment of the second line is awkward to the checked v. Maybe bring it in to where the V would normaly end or even align it to the botton of the V. For that is a big eye trap as you have it.
At first glance not having an e at the end threw me a bit.
I like the colors, but when you first take a glance at the logo it doesn't read easily. You have to stare at it a bit in order to read "Dataserv".
It may be that the words are too close together, the a's don't have the bottom tail and over all all the letters have a similar shape (roundish).
I hope this helps you.
