I think this is an absolutely amazing looking site. It looks clean and its extremely easy to navigate and view pictures.
The only thing I would change is that I personally don't like to scroll websites horizontally; if possible, I would take make it fit into the page width.
Also, just a heads up that the banner at the top is cut off when I look at it (the top part of the middle of the banner is not visible).
Great work.
on my small netbook the site cannot be senn without hhorizontal scrolling. Big usability problem!
I like the design and tha large pics very much. Nice work, but too wide
I really love it.
Just two comments. The logo at the top left is out of place and cut off on my screen.
Is there a reason you cut the head off the illustration at the very bottom? I feel like I've seen that illustration some where before ??
Hi Angie, thanks for your review. Yeah, I really have to fix this logo thing - but so much other stuff to do :-( The illustration is from a free character pack by web company We Function: http://wefunction.com/2008/11/free-character-pack/ Greetz, Chris
but to simple. there are a lot of beautiful photos but you have to add some original tune
diffrent photo site and nice design.
I like your site everything is nice it is original the only problem that i had was that it was long.
I found that the website was too long. Even though I like the high quality images, maybe having some way of making them bigger using a javascript tool may make it less demanding for those with slow internet speeds.
However, these are very minor issues and are likely not to affect many people at all.
Overall, verrry good!!
I found the site too large... 1140 pixels wide looks nice for me as I'm seeing it on a notebook with a screen resolution of 1280x800. But what about those users with 1024x768 screens? Focus on your visitors before thinking about the design.
The big images are nice, I loved it. I f you do reduce the width of the site, I'd recommend center the images and setting the extra info right bellow.
Tip: take a look a 960 Grid System: www.960.gs to help your development.
Your blog is simply beautiful! Photos are amazing! Great job!
Maybe you should consider adding English-language navigation?
Hey Christoph! :)
I'm a photography geek myself and your photos and design are lovely.
There are some nicks to work out though:
Navigation. Your blog has no top (header) navigation and it's awkward to scroll till the bottom to check our your about/contact page.
Size. As some of the other good people said here the site is not easy to navigate on 1024x768. I would decrease the size of the photos and/or move the photo menu at the bottom of the picture.
Commenting. I find it very annoying to enter my comment in a straight line. Like most of us, we're used to enter a comment filling in fields from top to bottom not from left to right. Also, the message box might be to small for a loger comment. This might be a personal annoyance but I can't help it.
Features. You might want to think of implementing a tag cloud or categories (Think of it this way: what happens when you hit 100 entries? How do you access them? Next/Forward would take ages).
Try to make the right menu for photos more menu like. At least change the cursor to "pointer" when hovering over it.
That's about it. Show us more of those photos man :)
Hi Zeno, thank you very much for this extremely profound review! I agree on the menu/commenting/features stuff. Will take some time though until I get to that because I have a lot of other sites to work on, but I will definitely look into it. Concerning the resolution however, I believe we designers should push the limits a bit. Eventually it will lead to users switching to better resolution systems when they realize their PC can't hold up, which in turn will give designers more freedom to express themselves sonner than later. Of course not if you design for a service that is meant to be really widespread, but for small initiatives like that, let's not hold back.
Too wide and paragraph alignment should be changed to left-align. Apart from that, nice work =)
great photos always gets the traveller interested, beware of small text though if you want user to actually read and interact with your posts.
