    A Few Things

Posted on Jul 07, 2010 at 12:07 PM

This is a georgeous design - I love your use of colour, typography, and jQuery. The site looks clean, hip, and harmonious. The "get a quote" drop-down feature is polished and well-placed.

    Here are a few suggestions:

    1. Since you guys are a small studio, I would consider adding in a small pop-up blurb of each person's specialties on the "About Us" page. This would add a personal element to the site that some clients look for when they are searching for an agency. I would also increase the font-size of your names since they are currently hard to read.

    2. Under "Services" I would add a way to close the circles (either click on the name again or add a [close]).

    3. I would add a smaller logo on the sub-pages

    4. The homepage bottom bar is brown instead of black - is that intentional?

    5. Although I love the logo centerpiece on the homepage, it might be beneficial to add a short tagline of what the creative studio does primarily. First-time users are not going to know what the site is about, so you might end up with a high bounce rating.

    Overall, awesome job!

    nice !

Posted on Jul 07, 2010 at 12:57 PM

nicely designed site and i am glad you are using jQuery not Flash for this. the only comment i have is the language button in the navigation band- i was not sure what 'LT' was until i clicked it.. i don't think language button should be this prominent and if you put it there put both EN and LT where EN is selected by default or vice-versa.

    • Marius Graužinis
Posted: on Jul 09, 2010 at 10:45 AM

Well, the intension was making a "switch" like solution. The primary language is lithuanian, of course, since most of our customers are lithuanians. "EN" in the menu means english without a doubt. On the other hand we don't have to make all the menu items the same way...I think it's time for a discussion with the colleagues. Thanks!

    Impressive

Posted on Jul 07, 2010 at 9:00 AM

    This is beautiful and impressive.

Couple Things that could make it even more great.

Love the logo in the beginning it is stunning but once you leave that home page to the other sections it doesn't appear again. So when you're on the service page you are thinking what is this company called again. I would keep your logo on every page.

The text under the portfolio title seems to be not needed and placed weird because of how short it is. I would either add more to the text or remove it.

You can add some more functionality by using SWFAddress to have the url change between sections making the back button work and deep linking which is always nice.

Only other comment I have is maybe to add a highlight or rollover on the home and language button. I understood the home button pretty well but didn't know that language button changed the language until I clicked it.

Also some rollovers on the service page would be great as well.

    Beautiful Site!!

    User experience

Posted on Jul 07, 2010 at 7:18 AM

Over all I liked the originality and innovation at work here.

Cool colors and nice jquery implementation.

There are a couple issues to look into.

Under portfolio section, Timeworks has its link under the right content pane broken, kindly check and fix this.

However you talked about user experience? and to my dismay I couldn't get anything when I turned javascript off only a loading element.

If user experience is a concern here, most of the stuff if not all on the site should work with/without javascript is turn on.

Also the navigation should be made simple. Obviously pressing the left/right arrows should do the trick(move me to the next section-page) ctrl+lft arrow is a lot of work for me expecially when on some machines the ctrl key is swaped with the fn key.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for your comments. Fixed the issue with broken link.

We added ctrl key because left/right arrows are used in input fields and so on. But i guess we'll just deactivate it on input fields and use onle arrows.

java script is needed to view this page :) It couldn't work without it.

      Thanks again:)

Thanks that my review could help. However, still not convinced with your 'javascript is needed' if user experience is much sort for.

I think you could just load the home page and tell the user that javascript is needed to view this page other than the current blank page, its not the best. If you dont have time to implement one without javascript, at least tell the user that javascript is needed. All boil down to accessibility and usability.

      Regardless, great work done.

Also with javascript disabled... this site is just blank. I imagine that you don't get very good page rankings on Google and other search engines as their webcrawlers dont use javascript. I would suggest having a noscript backup plan so that you can at least get indexed in search engines.

    The "splash page"

Posted on Jul 09, 2010 at 1:40 PM

I absolutely love your logo, but it by itself on the home page is an unnecessary click through. I'm sure that horse has been beat to death by everyone here and abroad, but that makes me wonder why I still see them. Adding a tidbit of information to the site with some direct links to specific parts of the site would be a great addition to what is otherwise an absolutely beautiful and functional design. That great logo should be on EVERY page.

The javascript issue is a non-issue if you know your market and while I was a bit like "what the heck!" when I saw the "instruction" for keyboard navigation, it's welcome with the fact that you have a standard alternative. I found myself using it more than clicking the links, but definitely keep both.

    thumbs up on UX!

Posted on Jul 08, 2010 at 1:05 AM

    Hello -

As you have heard from other comments, I agree that this is a very well done site. Very modern, fresh & clean.

What really impressed me is that your code validates. CSS has some validation errors, but that's to be understood being that you're embracing CSS3...hooray!!

I love the typography, colors, and the overall simplicity of the site.

Top and bottom space too dark

Posted on Jul 08, 2010 at 5:59 AM

Love this site - simple and works great, although Id like to see the bottom and top space a little lighter to complement the bg colour and logo colours

I Love the logo although I dont think the studio type fits that well with the 4 somehow, maybe its because of where the studio baseline is.

Id like to see the transition between pages miss out pages between what your trying to get to rather than scroling through all of them if that makes sense?

A visual treat, but not great for potential clients.

Posted on Jul 08, 2010 at 7:39 AM

The use of Jquery is interesting, though personally for me I'm not a big fan of overusing it. I feel the effects and movement compromise of usability and, after repeated visits, just become plain annoying, and difficult to access information quickly.

I'd also question your "Services" slide. It doesn't really explain anything, instead when I click an item I get some bromidic, slightly pretentious comment about design.

Also, your portfolio slide. It's nice, but again, it doesn't really explain anything. When did you make the websites? How? Did you just design them, or code them too? I need more information.

Generally speaking, it's a nice little site that visually is very interesting. However, from a business point of view it's quite weak. I've no idea what your capabilities are, how much (roughly) you charge, or any detail about yourselves, your experience, your qualifications etc.

    Good luck!

Very original.. easy/simple to use. It really sells what you do, as this is your field of work. Very refreshing. New.

It is really clever as the entire website is one continuous page going across.

And it works well on my iphone!!!!!!

Wow this is a killer Concept :P

Posted on Jul 07, 2010 at 8:09 AM

Wow, this very cool!!! It's 5 on each criteria ( if I had more starts I sure put more :P )

The one thing that is not so cool it's the black background behind your website (top and bottom). I have a bigger screen ( resolution 1680x1050 ) and the black is more than 30%, and it's eye killing. I think you can try something else, another color, or an texture, I am sure something else fits quite good!

But this is a very very cool design and originality!

    Wow

Posted on Jul 07, 2010 at 7:12 AM

Have to say, I'm hard to impresse but this site is really really good. The artwork you did I would like to say is perfect. Really enjoyed the services section the most.

    Usability is really friendly aswell.

    Just 2 minor things:

    1. The black frames, probably you are using those to make it look like old times movies but I don't think the black matchs with the nice palette you have. Did you try it dark brown as the fonts? Anyways, that's just my taste I guess.

    2. First time it took a little bit to load the elements, for example, on services I clicked on one of the items and the text came first and the bubble/background took longer to appear, looked odd. Probably I have a slow connection (3Mb). Are the graphics optimized for web?

That's all. Excellent job, now this is one of my favourites.

    Keep it up!

    Simple. Effective

Posted on Jul 07, 2010 at 4:40 PM

I love the design.. it's simple and effective. I loaded the site up but I had to scroll to reach the navigation. Maybe you can have it vertical instead? or above the logo. Just so you know my Viewport width: 1280px and my Viewport height: 540px I guess that's the standard viewport for 13.3" screens.

Hope that helps, keep up the great work!
