    a few things..

Posted on Jul 01, 2010 at 10:13 AM

overall- the second one is more meaningful although you can play with the image and placement of it- the image could even replace the O in One.. i like using 'Universe' in punchline with this image however not sure about 'fingertips' part. please remove the glow effect on the face..

    Hi Jesse

To be honest I like the original logo a lot more thank the new ones... I will add notes to them all, with my thoughts, but generally a logo, doesn't necessarily HAVE to represent what the company do, but be really clean and draw the customer's eye and make them think.

I hope my feedback helps you.. I have done a simple version of how a different take on the main logo could look...

See below, in all honesty the first is by far the best!

also it wont read correctly... it could misplaced with AboutCne... The font's pretty naff to....

      • 2font

is old school and not original, just doesn't work

      • 3tagline

it's kind of airy fairy, stick with the first or the last

        remove it

      • 2drop shadow

make it slightly thinner and lighter maybe 50%

Thanks for the quick feedback Aaran. I looked at your work and you do some really good stuff.

One of the problems with the first logo is that it doesn't work very well at a small size. The color bars start to blend and it's hard to tell what it is. Where we are a web company our logo needs to work in small button type images etc that may be used across the web. I agree that the logo doesn't necessarily have to represent what the company does, but it needs to be recognizable.

I'm working on a version right now where the rest of the orange O is visible. The orange actually works really nicely because we have multiple segments (like oranges) of your life/family we store info in so conceptually it works really well. Plus the concept of how big of a slice of your life you want to store is nice. Obviously you wouldn't get that in just the logo but we can leverage it in the rest of our marketing.

      Thanks again

In that case go with the orange and take a slice out of it, although I think I have seen this somewhere before.

    Orange slice

Posted on Jun 30, 2010 at 4:56 PM

I would probably make the orange slice a whole orange slice. It's clean and attractive, though.

I really like this design, but the half of an orange slice leaves me feeling like Im only getting half of One.

I prefer this one overall. Has a positive feeling, while being easy to read and professional. It also gives me the impression that AboutOne is about people, which I find important

Not a fan. maybe its the wheel, reminds me too much of a color pallete. It seems very busy and doesn't leave much of a impression on me.

Thanks TJ! I appreciate your quick feedback. Lots of comments about the half orange slice so I am going to work on that with a full one. Glad that you felt the second logo was about people. That's what I was going for but some people miss that part.

      Thanks!

Of the three, I think this is the best one. The original that another posted doesn't seem all that appealing to me (sorry for the bad pun, wait... no, I'm not). I also think that it would be better if it were a whole circle and perhaps a bit smaller. The concept is quite good, but the logo as a whole doesn't grab me. Perhaps you could do something to draw attention to the text as well as the image contained therein.

Thanks Jeremy. I'm going to play with some different fonts to draw attention to the whole image better

After thinking about it later, this might be mitigated or it might completely go away for me if the image's size fit with the text better.

    I like #1

Posted on Jun 30, 2010 at 7:05 PM

Out of the three, I really like the message of the first design. I think you're right regarding the rainbow wheel: it's not that really engaging and shows little connection to the app. I do like the slogan, however. My issue with #2 is that it is a bit too generic - cogs are used in logos for all sorts of things and I think your app is a bit more personal in nature and should be reflected in the logo.

For #1, I understood the message right away. The orange slice represents health, freshness, vitality, segments (in life) and growth. Even though it's a bit cliche, I really like the play on words between the image and slogan.

My only issue with the logo is that I didn't know the slice was supposedto be an "O." I'd suggest moving the image between the two words instead or moving it to the left side. I really like the type you used as well: clean and modern. Best of luck!

    Cheers, Serina

    I prefer the original but...

Posted on Jul 01, 2010 at 9:07 AM

... I understand why the company feels it's no longer appropriate. That said, the orange slice concept is a good starting point, but still needs some work. I find it doesn't have the professional finishing touches that the original has.

Font: change it. This font looks bad to me, the tracking is bad, the weight isn't great, and it's not that original. The fonts of the other 2 designs are much better, maybe try those out, or go for something completely different.

Orange slice: everyone has said it and I'll repeat it too. It reads as a C. Make it a whole slice.

I also feel you need to work on the style of the orange. I feel you need to either go MORE detailed, or LESS. It's a weird inbetween right now that looks like you tried but didn't quite hit the mark. I don't like the unevenness of it.

    Something like: Detailed: http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-illustration-4718973-citrus-four.php

Same amount of detail but better: http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-illustration-8363905-citrus-fruit.php

    Less detail: http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-illustration-13447852-fruit-icon-sticker.php

Overall, I like the concept and the tagline, you just need to refine it.

I don't understand the orange imagery. I don't see it as relating to the purpose of the business, even though the tagline references a "slice". I prefer the circular logo design, but understand the comment about it being difficult to reduce. To remedy this shortcoming, consider reducing the number of colors to maybe 5 or 6, and filling the whole disc. If you then wanted to continue with the slice concept, you could leave a wedge out of the pie

    Use the color circle!

Posted on Jun 30, 2010 at 7:42 PM

I like the circle logo. very simple. straight to the point The other logo's are great for a vacation or traveling company. Also it's best to uze the half citrus for a C rather than an O.Keep up the good work!!

    Smaller tag line font

Posted on Jun 30, 2010 at 9:51 PM

I like the color wheel one best myself. It feels clean and organized. The AbouteOne font is nice but I'd get rid of the TM. A circle is a nice symbol of order.

I'm not sure about using the same font for the tag line, the gradient on it is way too strong too. Maybe try a standard font there and reduce the size a bit, it's a little bottom heavy to me.

I would also put in shadows for the letters.

Posted on Jul 01, 2010 at 5:36 AM

I personally prefer the original logo. The two new concepts are ok, but they seem far more "cheesy". "Your life, organized" is to the point and gets the message through.
