Hey Phillip
The idea behind this site is to make it easy, but lets face it that's not easy on the eye, so therefore you'll lose people quicker than them signing up.
This design is so busy, that my eyes don't know where to go first, I would suggest using some white space, and colors, there's too much going on that I had to close the window.
Probably the best way to do this is to have a nice clean homepage, maybe introduce a shelf feeling to it, like:
http://www.jackherbert.com/
That's just an idea and an observations, but I think it will work a lot better than what you going here, it may also help to have a main navigation and a sub-navigation (or internal), suggest you google "inspirational websites"..
Hope these comments make sense and help you along your journey!
Hi Philip,
I like the idea of a gallery layout for audiobooks, but currently the design is way too busy. The elements are there, but not really meshing well: the grey tabs look squished, there's very little padding and white space(room for the eye to breath), the audio buttons on the side don't make sense, the search bar doesn't have enough contrast, and the typography has much to be desired. On the sub-page, there are elements overlapping other elements, the ads are halfway down the page[error?], ahnd there'slotsof blank space. You also need to add a footer.
Sorry to sound harsh, but I think you should rethink your design. I really like your hover feature and would suggest playing off that for a sleeker, more modern-looking design. I'd also suggest you take a look at book sites, audio sites, and galleries. Create a mood board of the sites that are especially inspiring and build from there.
Here's a few sites I thought might help:
Good luck!
Cheers, Serina
