Website about brasilian music

Being your first attempt at web design, it's understandable that it's not going to be the most polished project in the world. For me, though, the artwork isn't helping the site's credibility on the topic.

Brasil, meu coracao. Muito bom! I agree, Refinment. Bright colors! More movement to the design. I like the shadow of the tree is the shape of the country, But I think it can be developed some more. Make the trunk/branches more fun. maybe to where the branches swirl into a musical note... or somethign where music is part of the tree. Or the bird whistling music.... swirls into wind (since the title is her soul sings) (and spirit in Greek is wind... I think! :) ) I can tell you are trying to make the nav more fun, why not incorporate that with an image, rather than it just floating off in the white space. Or if you want simplicity to the design, space out the nav more. I love illustrating like this! You lucked out on such a fun project! Good job so far! Keep pushing... the more time, the better it gets!

I see what you are trying to do, but the illustration looks extremely amateur. Looks like a bad flash illustration.

Love the menus.

I think the right part (the tree) is interesting.

I find the font of the main menu difficult to read. I have the feeling of a little lack of equilibrium of it as a whole.

If the illustration style is supposed to look stylized like this then i think it works good. For me though, i would go in and tighten up the drawing a bit in illustrator.

Permita-me começar este comentário dizendo que eu amo a música brasileira e que é muito bom ver alguém fazendo algo a respeito dela. Acho que o meu único conselho a você sera sobre as cores que escolher. Pense no Brasil, no seu povo, no seu carnaval, na rica cultura, e na bandeira, que tem cores tao vibrantes. Experimente alguns tipos de amarelo, talvez uma foto do Rio deva ajudar. Espero que isso lhe ajude.

Hey.. couple of quick points to start working: Brazil is vibrant and so it the music.. be it Bossanova, samba or my favorite Forro : ) You need to give it more heart, you need to show its all happening.. that music is very much happening. Splash in sunset colors and contrast with greens... I would start the home page with 30 photos of the most renowned artists from Brazil.. like a gallery with huge thumbnails, and the photos keep changing with other 30 artist randomly.. The roll over thumbnail gives you information on who they are and what style of music they play and you can play a sample of a famous song of theirs. Remember.. engage people.. not make them read. Its boring.. And the best way to engage people is to touch their heart.. so it will be todo beleza : )

I think you shoud work with your content...

content and graphical element must have the same style...

the menu takes so much place in my opinion...near to 30% of the page...and it's complex subnav system...not well organised.

try to give "brazilian" feel with colors and so ones.
