    footer and green

Posted on Jun 16, 2010 at 11:37 AM

Overall the poster has a nice feel to it.

The green background looks strange as well, both on the footer and the main text area. Try stretching the green to the ends of the poster for the names.

I'd try to get rid of it in the footer as well. To me the footer looks out of place right now, but I think it would look okay without the green.

You have some text blending into your background at the bottom as well. (vusal...)

The footer is intended to be a separate zone on the poster. It contains the technical information about the festival and I am doing this every time. People get the posters from the street and cut off the footer and keep the posters on their walls like that, without any unnecessary information.

      Thanks.

    center it

the space between the dn and nb are unequal, and summerfest should be centered. in fact, consider using a grid to make sure everyhing is exactly centered.

Ah, its from the conversions, on the full A2 poster size it's correctly distributed.

    Alignment

Posted on Jun 17, 2010 at 12:52 PM

I like the colors. They make the poster very eye catching. I have sort of mixed feelings about the green, but I think it does give some necessary coolness to an otherwise very hot poster, color wise. What if the green behind the letters was some kind of a vector shape that represents the music or the festival? I'm not sure what that would be ... Just an idea.

I feel like you have too much centering going on. Everything is very centered. I'm also not a fan of the fonts descending in size, although I'm sure you were trying to highlight headlining artists.

I love the look, but it makes me think of Bob Marley rasta music. For drum and bass, I would design something a bit more techy and less Jamaican.

    Take a look at: http://www.clubevents.info/img/flyers/2009-06-05_seemefestival-night.jpg

Drum and bass is an incredible journey through time and space. It's liquid, soulful and rolling. It's not dark or techy. I went a little bit overboard with the heatwave in this poster, but it's an open air urban festival in a city where the temperatures are around 35-40 degrees. I didn't want to make it refreshing, I wanted it to be a good representation of the craziness we'll have there ar the festival.
