Although I like the idea of the barn structure, I think the overall silhouette is rather awkward. The bottom outline of the logo makes it look too flat and takes away from the 3D barn concept.
The letter-spacing for the type is good, though there should probably be more spacing between the logo and the type.
Hi Jason,
Have you tried making one of the triangles into the green of the type? This would further emphasise the single unit.
I didn't 'get' that it was a barn until I read what you had written but I don't think that necessarily matters. Logos don't have to be THAT literal.
I do think it would be cool to pick up on the single unit nature of things. Also if they do data analysis by making one area a different colour it looks more like something to analyze with different values etc.
I think your font choice is good for a data analysis type of company.
Thanks for the insight. I actually heard this same comment from someone else (about selecting a section) and think that it is spot on.
Great spacing and line-hight conveys the brand and what it does straight off.
Like the other commenter said, didn't get the 'barn' reference without reading the explanation. The shape comes across more like an eco dome
It was literally a barn at first then iterated into the current shape. Glad it doesn't read as such.
i think the logo is a great concept how ever you might want to go for a simpler more styalized logo , the tiny shapes on the edges as well as the thin lines will get lost upon reduction.
see now I probably am skewed by the fact that I used to live pretty close to a place that sells dome homes, and have considered buying one. But until I read your tagline I thought you were going to sell me structures - a barn, a home, a kit to build a Buckminster-Fuller-type building.
I get your concept, but showing me your unit of measurement as if it were a barn building creates a pretty strong cognitive dissonance for me. Do more with data. Data Data Data. Make it a 2D representation maybe, instead of showing me a representation of a 3D dome home. [Data] ---> [Design]. [Points of connection] ---> [cool looking stuff with great usability]. Some kind of [if] ---> [then] or [before] ---> [after] like that.
Jason,
While I think the idea is very cool, I'm not sure if the geometric shape conveys that it's the measurement of surface area.
I also think the generic font and the juxtaposed image are terribly simple for an idea that original. I would try integrating the font with something that conveys measuring units.
Although I get the explanation of the concept, when I first saw it, I didn't think of a design firm, or web or interactive or driven by data. Unfortunately, geodesic (sp?) remind me of the 60s, which I'm not sure is what you are going for (although I love em). I didn't parse it as a "barn".
I have been thinking about a sphere, that could solve the 3d problem you're seeing. Thanks for the comments.
