I am not feeling the photo headlines navigation, maybe you should remove the background of the right and left buttons. Also, I would add something above the search field, feels empty.
Absolutely love your design. And I love the idea of having the background reflect the main article.
Not much to say, except for the login section:
That's it for me I think. Really nice design.
It's an interesting design concept. I think by incorporating some design elements connected to the area that this magazine is, though in a creative way, would improve and add a little spirit to the design.
Thats a good point. I'm hoping that all the city specific articles will help reflect the local side of it... But good point I will see if there is something that I can do to address that!
Good use of color and good cohesiveness across the piece. If I had a few things to say I would work on the space above the search box, or even the spacing of the popular searches. I'd be nice to see more actual content as it's hard to crit when I'm not sure what things are like the right side bar.
Very nice design: minimal, clean and with a good choice of colours.
I can't see very well so i tell you: try to fill the page in 960px wide. Try to use the grid system 960gs, it can be very useful in this design step.
Maybe try to replace "popular searches" with "popular topics/events". It can be more useful to users.
It is 960 wide its just that this is a very wide design - it gets scaled down, but thanks!
Good point about the search field area - but the photo headline is going to have to stay, this will allow for each issue's cover to reflect on the entire design and I really like this idea. Thanks very much for the feed back
