    blug

Posted on Jun 08, 2010 at 3:56 PM

i am not sure why you have to make the 'g' in blue- it looks good but again- it makes me think- are you trying to say something like - blug (all blue characters)..

the & between web and graphics looks to me like an infant- and i would say that & is the weakest point of this image.

    Text Alignment

Posted on Jun 07, 2010 at 5:35 AM

    Hi Dan,

Great looking logo design. Love the way the "G" drapes over the shelf border line and use of ampersand within the "G" letter!

Only real issue I see with this brand identity is can it be reproduced on all mediums! i.e. online, print, t-shirts, signage without losing any of the original artwork like the faded line.

Also the "web & graphics" text aligns off to the right. Just does not look right to me. Would be better if it aligned with the top "bluedesigns"

Other than that it's a great design if it's your first initial concept!

    Goodluck! Cheers, Sahus

Good idea! was wondering how you might resolve the alignment but that should do the trick! Only thing is "web & graphics" sounds better then "graphics & web"!

      Cheers, Sahus

    Font, underline, "&"

Posted on Jun 07, 2010 at 6:15 AM

    Hi Dan,

I can see where you're going with this, but for me this is not an accomplished logo.

The use of two contrasting colours is a good idea, however by having the "G" in blue also means the logo is broken up and difficult to read.

I also really dislike the underline, especially the drop shadow on it, it really doesn't fit in well with the very "2D" look of the text.

I'm not a fan of the "&", I think it looks clumsy.

Generally, I feel a better direction for this logo to go in would be to scrap the underline and the ampersand, and stick to something more basic. The contrasting colours is already creating the visual appeal it needs to.

    the g to white

Posted on Jun 07, 2010 at 7:17 PM

    Hi Dan,

There is lots I like about this.

For online I love the line - for print am wondering how it will translate.

I like the way the g drapes over the line but you've had to baseline shift it up slightly above the other letters which bothers me visually. It would be better if you could work it draping over the line but keep the cap height of the 'g' inline with the other letters.

Then I think that the draping could be even deeper so the 3d effect is more clear.

The next thing which doesn't quite fit visually for me is the fact that the ampersand cut out is so flat and 2d whilst everything else is very 3d. I love the idea of using the ampersand to punch out the bottom hole of the g - just think it needs a bit more work to pull it all together.

I really think it's a case of a few tweaks and it's going to be a stonking piece of work.

Maybe you just need to cut the ampersand out and make the hole have a bit of depth too.

    Draft

Hello, I think the logo is great, however the subtitle Web & graphics is hard to read and figure out that the symbol "&" is inside the "g", so I would say to move the subtitle somewhere else. Other than that the colors + background match perfectly.

font choice / color / details

Posted on Jun 07, 2010 at 7:43 AM

i like the concept, pretty original. However consider paying closer attention to the details. between the e and s at btm it has a little black triangle.. n and s also has the same. AVOID triangles like this.

The & looks weird... I would remove web and graphics al together.

Color, consider some more lighting and shading effects if it is a purely web logo.

Also have u throught about printing.

Tis a good point on the kerning of the font - it's not entirely consistent - I like the tight kerning but think 1pt spacing like you have between the 'l' and the 'u' is perfect - if the rest of the word was kerned to match this spacing then it would look better I think and should lessen your triangle issue.

    Lose the line

Posted on Jun 07, 2010 at 10:54 AM

I really like this logo design. It's very appealing and I love how the G drops down.

My only suggestion would be to get rid of the line. The line seems a bit unnecessary and if you downsize or put it on other mediums, the line will disappear.

Nonetheless, I still love the logo. Great job!

    Second One

Posted on Jun 08, 2010 at 9:37 PM

The second one seems nicer to me. Only problem have is this comes across as if you have mistakenly dropped the letter "e". Also, what does the word "blue designs" mean here? What does "blue represent?

    Spacing of the letters...

Posted on Jun 10, 2010 at 4:30 AM

    It's a very nice logo!

The only 2 things that pop in my mind when I see it are: 1. What if you want to place it small, will it still be that convincing? 2. The spacing between the letters really botters me... especially between b-l ... try to make the spacing more even or try a better font ...

Besides those 2 things I like it a lot! Keep up the good work!

    Beautiful

Posted on Jun 30, 2010 at 11:16 AM

    It is a great logo.

I love the colors, i love the fonts, i love its originality.

I wonder if the black background will always be there, or you will you make a different version for all types of printed media?
