Overall the design is not a major overall on the original site. I think the major issues that stand out for me is the wrong choice in colours and font type.
3.With regards to the font type I would again work on a font stack that best suits the design of the site.
4.One usability issue I found was in your Newsletter Subscribe input field label. It says E-mail ID?? That's a little confusing! Why not say "Enter your E-mail address"
Goodluck! Cheers, Sahus
A jewelry store site really should scream elegance, and this one doesn't. Even if it is a "discount" jewelry store, jewelry should never really come off as cheap. Unfortunately this site looks a bit cheap. I think two things will help significantly increase the sophistication of this site.
First is your color scheme. You have purple, pink, magenta, blue, navy, etc. The colors really do not mesh well together and there are probably too many of them. Also, the colors you have chosen are probably too sharp on the eye. The blue in the nav bar is nice. The pink/magenta in the "view more" is probably fine, but having it in all your subheads is a bit much. The navigation should probably be either blue or black as well. Purple text (non-header) looks somewhat amateur/cheap.
Second is your whitespace. There barely any at all. You have probably 4-5 pixels maximum dividing any two elements in your design. Give things some room to breathe. Crowded also looks cheap. You don't need a lot of space. Check out sites like Tiffany's and Zales' and compare them to something like Jewelry.com. I think you're site looks closer to Jewelry.com right now, and I don't think that's necessarily a good thing.
I would rethink some of the positioning and/or emphasis of your elements as well. The testimonials gets kind of lost in the ads/cc info and the 3 buttons on the right look like an afterthought.
Hi Rajiv, Here are my two cents for this design.
As regards the structure of the page, I think you should move the "Shop by Type" box up together with the products list. In my opinion, since that's another way to get to the desired products as is the product list both should be together.
As regards colors, I think you shouldn't be using the same color for the "View More" buttons and the section titles on the sides of the page, so the different functionality is more clear. The colors for the 3 buttons on top-right of the page look different than the blue used in the Top Menu. Also, the colors for the Heading and Top Menu look too dark in my opinion, but that's more personal taste.
On the design point of view, if you look at the whole page it looks like you put some effort on the right side of the page but none on the left.
Also, you seem to be using many different fonts on the page, I think you should reduce the amount for consistency.
Overall, the products look expensive so I think you should work more on the design and make it look more classy.
Hope this helps! Pablo
