    Improvements needed

Posted on Jul 25, 2009 at 5:36 PM

Hi Nicole. Your design is good in concept all that is neeed is fine tuning. As Brian said the letters will need to be worked on. Not to copy Brian but they wont scale when enlarged and decreased in size as they seem kinda scratchy rather than smooth and scalable.

So mainly work on the quality of the letters and the design will become at least 3 x better if not more.

The monster IS fun and will let people know your great to work with and take things in your stride so definately keep it. Although make it "suck" on the O and perhaps have a small bit of monster slime come down over the O, that would be pretty neet.

    Much respect

Very cool. Thanks a lot. I was trying to think of a way to make the letters and monster more connected so the slime idea will be perfect.

    Rememberance

I agree about the monster adding too much weight and the texture, however something to consider is spelling of the brand and remembrance, you want something that is easy to spell and remember. I'm not sure what country you are in so this may or may not be an issue for you

    Tracking and Clear Out

Posted on Jul 27, 2009 at 6:08 AM

Like the others said I would play with the tracking. But, one thing that may help readability would be to knock out the counters of the "O" and the "A". Other than that play with the color to make the Monster lighter yet still making it pop. Definitely on the right track.

    The texture on the letters

Posted on Jul 25, 2009 at 10:35 AM

I think the monster is a unique touch. Is your logo just digital ? or will it be printed? I'm asking becuase the texture you have ont he lettering probably won't scale very well if the logo is reduced. The font could also use a bit of work, The letters feel too spaced apart which almost gives the impression that each letter is it's own word. (using all caps makes t his effect even worse) The word 'Nyekola' is much more memorable and readable with lower case letters.

The monster right now is adding to much weight to the left hand side, what if you placed him ontop of the 'O' or even better maybe the 'O' could be the monster. This is a good start so far, lots of potential... you've done a good job at identifying your objectives of your logo which is great.

To recap the main points: - Use Lowercase letters and think of the scaleability of the typography in terms of the texture.

    • consider the balance and placement of the monster.

Thank you! You're comments are very helpful and I will definately give the logo a rework based on them.
