LCBC Website

The design looks great and it seems as though the changes will improve usability based on the event request. I like the placement of the slideshow controls - outside of the image - to clearly show how to control the main image. The event slideshow is good, but will the visitors get confused by the location navigation? Will they feel like they need to click on those links before moving down to the events section?

I also see that you restructured the navigation. Will this confuse your visitors since some of the main nav links and categories have been removed?

I'm not sure the placement of the navigation all the way at the top offers the best usability and practicality when there is a header, large image, and another set of navigation to browse on top of the content. In other words, when the user is reading the text in the main body, they will likely have to scroll up to get to the top of the page and click on the navigation to read something else. It looks good there, but set your resolution to the minimal denominator (1024x768) and scroll down to read some text. Is the main nav still visible?

I'd also like to see a bit more color in the body, whether it be in the left column or even in the heading.

Nate, the design looks perfect, but the font colors in footer area , its difficult to read. One more suggestion, there is more space between the main body and the footer area. How about making social media and footer together !! Why the footer fonts "GATHER CONNECT SERVE" are going out of the box , i mean its not matching with the layout. Its my opinion, kindly take it.

Overall It looks very good compared to old site.

Hello Nate! Your design looks great. I really love it. but the only thing that I think you can modify a little bit is that the social media part? Hi Nate, firstly i'd like to say that this is a big improvement on the current site.

Overall i think that the site looks cohesive and well put together. However the are are a couple of things that I would change personally.

1. The contrast between the the type on the top nav. The text gets a little lost in the background. It looks nice as is but for usability i think that it would be helpful for the user if there was a stronger contrast.
2. The footer looks a little weird to me. It seems disjointed and doesn't look as though it belongs on the site. Again the readability s hindered by poor contrast.

I'm not sure what this chrch is like but i'd imagine that it consists of a wide demographic both old and young. so for heuristic purposes i'd try to keep things simple and and accessible as you don't want to exclude users from the site.

Overall a job well done, keep up the good work!

this looks much better then the current site!! Well done! I think it's a really nice site for a church.

I have a few comments:

alignment: I reckon a few elements needs to be lined up with images,... - see attached. I don't mind the "events at LCBC" arrows not being lined up though. I actually think that looks nicer.

a bit lost: what's the information in the grey section (Manheim,....). I guess they link to different pages where we can see events happening in thoses regions? Took me a bit of time to understand that... and again I'm not even sure. At a first glance I thought they were titles for the "events at LCBC" images or second way to view the images in the header. That's a bit confusing. Also, the copy is hard to read. The copy color should be lighter.

main navigation: I didn't see the main navigation the first time. Might be just me though... so let's see if other people havfe the same issue.

font size: the body copy is hard to read. What do you think about making it bigger?

Social media and footer: The social media icons should go in the footer, and "social media" should be closer to the icons. I reckon you can remove "search site" as the quick find link in the main navigation is quite straight forward (will that expand to reveal the search field?) and you can put Social media and the icons instead. I don't understand the utility of "Gather Connect Serve"? Also it's too big and should stand out less, if you want to keep it. Last but not least: the footer colour makes it stand out too much too, might be better to use a lighter color: ie the social media grey background color?
