the idea is good. colors match up to a nice overall effect. The header could do a bit of more "space" near the logo, and try to align the log-in button to the image from the content. the content: the buttons near the paper-plane: maybe align them better? the bottom of the content, right above the footer, a bit too crowded, as apposed to the rest of the page. the footer: maybe create three columns instead of only two, and loosen up the lines. hope it helps.

Too much area is colorless and empty.

Hi Euan, this is an improvement from your previous design in some ways and in others it is somewhat of a step back.
Your footer. The inclusion of a footer is good, but what you currently have in it is not. You don't seem to have a lot of information to put in your footer, so why so big? You should make your footer smaller to properly accommodate the amount of information that you want included. Also, spread out the copyright info, it doesn't look good all bunged up.
Don't put two sets of social links on your site. You only need them in the footer, the rest is overkill.
Remove the join free today! button at the bottom, it is unnecessary.
Reconsider the layout of your information. Honestly, the layout from the previous version looks better than the current one. This feels empty. Maybe try a two colum approach with the "How does Flying For Miles help?" on the left and the "What do people say?" on the right.
Try putting your blog headlines in the footer. It would decrease the amount of empty space there. Also, it would remove it from that awkward placement it is in now.
These are just a few of my thoughts and I hope that they help.

Thanks for taking the time to review my design.
Yes I agree it needs more work and more content. I will look at bringing the blog posts and social network icons into the blog and take them out of the main section.

Ok, I'll take a look and see how it feels once I make the other changes to the site.
I can see why you think it looks empty and in some ways I think it does at times as well. I will look at adding some content back into the homepage to make it feel less bare.

Thanks for the comments Daniel. I shall look at giving the logo more space and align the various buttons to more appropriate positions.
I will see how I can create more space in the bottom section and will look at improving the footer (which I admit hasn't had as much time as the rest of it).
