This is very simple and clean and a great start.

I'd actually really like to see this made out of folded paper and then photographed. May throw up some interesting ideas when bringing it back to do a two colour version.

The Design Studio part feels a little too far away from the MAT part and again as some others have said I'd also be interested to start playing with joining the words together to form new shapes out of the letters.

Thanks! I've photographed it and I found some places I could change to achieve a better result!

But for the T, i've only reflected it, and looks better now. What do you think?

This is a great design I think!

I think you need to decide wether it's perspective or folded paper lying flat. If It's perspective, like Tom said, something is wrong with the T. If it's flat paper folds I think you don't need the colour difference and only work with shadows.

And to make it stand out, even though it's simplicity i think it need a strong colour. Red or Blue or one of the CMYK colours or something.

    Good luck!

Really thanks for the tip! I've reflected the T and now I think it's better!

About the colors, I'm trying blue and green, but with distinct saturations. What do you think?

      Thanks!

This T looks much better, yet, the darkest colour on the right still feels a bit off. What happens when you make that the same dark colour as on the other letters?

I really like the blue version! It's a really nice blue

    Invert I in T

Posted on Apr 27, 2010 at 6:49 AM

Very nice design. I really like it, but one thing is looking odd to me. Because M & A looks like paper folded the darkest gray in T should be replaced with light gray. OR if letters are in 3D perspective M & A looks to me as they are viewed from right side, while T is looked from left.

I've looked it and the T is really odd. I've tried to reflect the T to make it looks better.

      Thanks

    consistency

The bottom line sounds harsh but its the best word I could think of at the moment. The underside of the T stands out to me because it seems darker than the rest of the shading on the letters.

The perspective works and kind of doesn't seem to work for me. Both the letters M and A look like one strip of paper however the design of the T doesn't look theoretically possible with a single strip. I attached a link to a picture to better show what i think of a T shape given the set up of the first two letter.

I personally really like the simplicity of your logo. The greyscale really works with the simplicity of the design. It looks like a four color logo (inc white) and anymore colors beyond that would break the simplicity.

Thank you so much! I think that you are right, so i've tried to change the T, but the better solution i've found was reflecting the original one. What do you think?

Oh, and i've added a picture of papers strip too!

I like the reflection much better! It works with the illusion of the fold, without having to add the width of the foldover. I like the color choices as well. The right underside of the T still looks a bit dark to me. But it looks really nice when i make it large and take a step back, so now im torn.

Has just the right amount of simplicity.

Posted on Jun 13, 2010 at 2:16 AM

You said you were going for a simplified design and I think you achieved that well, but I also think that you managed to make a very eye-catching a modern design in the process.

My favourite would have to be the greyscale version.

Lighten the gray for more pop

Posted on Apr 27, 2010 at 3:51 PM

I like it, however, I agree with another reviewer that you need to lighten the gray for more impact and 3 dimensional affect.

    not much more...

Posted on Apr 27, 2010 at 8:26 AM

Adding to what the others have said about the T (Zlatibor gave a very good advice), I'm move the "design studio" to the left, and make it a little bigger (under MA). The space under the right side of the T and "IO" looks wierd.

And I'd try brighter colours, to make it more visible.

Yeah! I'm trying to modify the T and add some colors to it, so it's more clean and shiny!

      Thanks!

    Great but...

Posted on Apr 27, 2010 at 2:23 AM

It is simple but it's not catch the eyes. One of my reason is colour. You have 3 colours in this logo (as I saw). So one of the problem is when you put thin one into some printing media like newspaper or else. How it will look like. Will it still the same like this?

Why not try make new shape of the word "Mat". Simple colours and those colours should not be so close to each others. Make some contrast or something else.

But I do like your idea to make it simple.

    Keep on going :)

    colors

Posted on Apr 27, 2010 at 2:29 AM

    i like it a lot.

It´s simple but diferent, love the effect you produced with scales od grey. However In my opinion it "dies" a bit. try to use a lighter grey to induce more impact.

    the T

Posted on Apr 27, 2010 at 3:33 AM

I cant figure out why the T is at a different perspective to the rest of the letters.

It is a very tough letter to tie in with your other 2 well formed letters.

    Best of luck.

I think that i've made a little mistake so the T is inverted. I've reflected it and now looks better.

      Thanks!
