    Not a huge fan

Posted on Apr 21, 2010 at 9:10 PM

I think I remember seeing an earlier version of this concept that I liked better. Overall I like the keyhole in the o. However there are some things that I just don't think are working on this logo:

    1. Colors: The colors that you chose look more like a construction company then security company.
    2. The stroke. The stroke is too thick and doesn't match the stroke on the key hole.
    3. I might think about centering systems and making it all caps.

Out of the 3 the last concept is your strongest. I don't think you are done here, keep working on it!

8-1 & 8-2: The negative space around the "O" seems too open compared to the tightness of the rest of the logotype. Perhaps open some of that space up, such as in "citi."

However, this space doesn't seem as bothersome on 8-3 because of the deletion of the ascender on the "l".

The most successful one, as-is, is 8-3. It just looks tighter, or more "locked" together than the other ones. I think it still has a city feel to it without being too bouncy on the top like the other two variations. Overall it sends a friendly, modern, and confident message to the consumers. Good job :)

    Kill the outline.

Posted on Apr 22, 2010 at 4:12 AM

This logo looked great to me, until I saw the outline!

Out of the three, the bottom one is by far the best. The use of lowercase works really well - simply because all the letters are a uniform size. In the other two, the letters are different cases and therefore different sizes, which to me looks a bit messy.

I love the implementation of the key-hole, it's not at all original I see it everywhere, but this is a logo where it works best!

    #3

3 is the strongest and cleanest. #1 is my least favorite, the dots on the "i" are too large and distracting.

    8-2

Posted on Apr 22, 2010 at 10:07 AM

    Hi,

8-2 gets my vote, its stands out more as the lettering has been correctly used, capitcal C, lower case i. With it having a capital C it lines up well with the T and L.

    Best of luck.

    gradient in outline

Posted on Apr 22, 2010 at 10:36 AM

I would have to go with 8-3 its the simplest of the 3 though I am not a big fan of the over all design.

I suggest you reconsider the gradient in the outline.

    Couple of things

Posted on Apr 22, 2010 at 11:21 AM

I think the 3rd is the best. Although, I think it seems a little clumsy, try to get rid of this stroke and put a 1px stroke of dark orange, try to reverse your inner gradient so the dark orange will be on bottom of the logo, make your "system" text smaller and more attractive.

    Good luck!

    The t versus the l

Posted on Apr 22, 2010 at 12:03 PM

8-3 gets my vote. The stroke is acceptable I suppose, but the biggest thing that bothers me is the curves in the t and the l. If you look, the bottom of the t curves more than the bottom of your custom l. I know you worked a lot with the l in earlier revisions. I would suggest giving the same curve to both of these letters. Otherwise you have a broken reading rhythm IMO.

    Hope this helps.

    Favorite is 8-1

Posted on Apr 22, 2010 at 12:56 PM

I like the first one because it seems more uniform and simple and I like the "i" dotted.

If I could change one thing it would be the word "systems," the text seems kind of plain.

    avoid the outline

    Hi Lars,

Nice logo,,, I like the 3rd one, very simple, neat and clean, I think you can avoid the use of gradient and outline.

    Use #1

Posted on Apr 22, 2010 at 3:39 PM

I like the first one. The typography feels right, even and pleasing.

The second one is too awkward. Third is a close runner up but #1's execution of the i's is well done, and the third one is hard to read without the dots.

    My favorite is #1

Posted on Apr 21, 2010 at 3:07 PM

I have been watching your revisions and overall I would have to say my favorite is #1(8-1). The lower case C keeps the 2 C's uniform and The larger L works well for legibility.

    Caps lock/font

Posted on Apr 21, 2010 at 4:45 PM

Like the design, haven't seen any of the earlier revisions but have you tried 'systems' in uppercase and a bit more of a cleaner font. I think this would make the logo look a little more modern. Perhaps add a gradient to the 'citiloc' and have a solid coloured border rather than a gradient... just a thought.

      Hi Dave

Thanks for your feedback. Subsequent revisions have the "systems" set in all caps. Thanks, good suggestion. I prefer the logo in a single colour in order to be able to use it in a variety of applications like nameplates and engraving etc. WHich one is your current favourite though?
