Hi Joshua,
This is a great start! I especially love your palette and choice of typography - they really fit the modern vibe, I think.
Here are few small suggestions:
Align the top navigation with the logo's center. The current navigation position is too high. I'd make it a tad smaller as well.
For the three boxes, I'd suggest aligning the title and text or text and link. Currently, they look a little messy since title = center-aligned, text = left-aligned, and link = right-aligned.
The testimonials might look nice as the boxes as well.
Make the call to action stand out a little better (ie. a "work with me" button).
Cheers, Serina
Wow, Josh it's really good looking site. I would hire you :)
Few usability issues:
Cut text where ever possible - people read on average 20% of content so try not to dilute the important stuff
Make is easier for users to see what they can click. Design buttons more like a buttons (See what I do, View my service, read about me, etc)
Simple text is better: Not Just a Video, because a lot of user may not know what Vlog is.
The middle icon (iphone) does not support the message of Years of experience. Old 8mm camera would :)
Loris is awesome !!!!!!!!! :)
Keep with good work, lots of travel and fun.
cheers!
Mike
This is a really nice design so far. I think you need to left align your headers and links below the paragraphs. Also, add a border above the centered paragraph at the bottom of your content area. Lastly, the gray background color doesn't quite work, try more of an off tan color.
Hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. This is pretty darn nice. I like the colour scheme. The brown/orange and green work well together. As other people have already said, I would:
lose the crying kid video and you have yourself a baller design, but with that kid it looks like a charity website.
First, I really think that it's a great redesign of the old website, but there are some issues that should be corrected.
You should add depth to the design and details. Also please get rid of the drop shadow from the video.
Put more emphasis on the call to action button "see what i do", I didn't saw it the first time.
Also give the links on the design a different text color (blue) and make them stand out more than the text.
what do you mean by "add depth to the design" There is a lot of depth of layers and color... and as for making the links blue...Probably not going to take that piece of advice.
Great looking site.... the navigation seems dull, the site has great big typography, nice colours and effects.
The navigation is the last thing I will remember, and it's just dull, try adding a more substantial sized menu.
Yes, Yes, Yes! I love it. Like I said, I'd drop down the links in the header. Also on the "See What I Do >>" Make a cool looking arrow. The >> is boring. Also JUSTIFY you boxes of text! There is a reason newspapers and magazines do it, it just looks a lot better!
The redesign is REALLY GOOD. - Try just to put the menu on the center of the box.. from this sight, it seems to be too high. - Give the text in the three block under the main more space from the border and maybe a little more line-height.
on the three blocks - do you mean more space from the left and right sides? so more of a margin? and by line height do you mean the space between the smaller body text?
Those are good points, I will give the nav-bar placement a try
I am going to add a little more space to the 3-featured areas and take your advice about aligning the title with the text.
I experimented with a button in place of the call to action text.. couldn't figure out the right color for it though...
