    pretty good

I like how you are presenting the T-Shirt designs, it gives just the right amount of information. I also like the social media buttons on the bottom.

What will happen when you click a shirt?

As for things that could be improved i'd have to say that if you were targeting this towards just teens then it would be pretty much bang on, but since you want a more broad target market you might want to make the design look a bit more modern.

The URL is on there if you'd like to take a look on what happens. It takes you to a different page where you can click and see the shirt on a model in a light box.

i checked it out and it seems very usable, you guys need to get some hot girls (like the one in the lets kick it) to wear your shirts tho, kinda like what busted tees did. Man that girl was smokin. http://3.media.collegehumor.com/collegehumor/ch6/a/9/collegehumor.56b568da1e77dd35912fef8994a1a676.jpg

Thank you for your feedback, I changed the target audience to something realistic now at 15-30 which is what it's really aimed at. And yes, I told them to hire models and make them wrestle and put it on youtube, to promote their shirts.

    Nice

Posted on Apr 17, 2010 at 1:40 AM

    I like it.

The negative space around the banner is a little awkward. The blue from the bottle seems to clash a little with the blue in the banner. The content text should have some padding to set it more apart from the other elements. If I were you I would experiment with the colo blue in banner and sidebars.

But really I like it or I wouldn't be so harsh.

Show that you are selling shirts

Posted on Apr 17, 2010 at 1:51 AM

I think for website that sells shirt it lacks some bright colors. Shirts you buy on a website like this one are supposed to be fun shirts, so the design needs to follow. Nothing shows that you sell shirts either, no models, no pictures of any shirt anywhere.

About the UI, I notice 2 main problems:

    • Your main navigation (home, mens, womens, etc...) should not be above your header image, this is way to high, people won't scroll all teh way above the header to see your nav. You can keep your tab style navigation but coming from underneath the head.

    • The other issue is that when you get to the site for the first time, then only clue we have about what the site is about is the slogan "shirts you wear" then you see square thumbnails. You should move some your text above that, at least one sentence, written in big that you can use as a h1 tag in your html to give the user a better clue about what this is all about. Something like "HoboSauce, the place for fun shirts!" or something like that.

    Hope it helps.

    Okay but not great.

Posted on Apr 17, 2010 at 3:10 AM

I agree with NewsPark and Gregory their comments. The design looks good already but definitely needs some polishing.

The main problem I see is that you are mixing up 3 "types" of design.

The header is centred and makes it look like you're having a very "vertical" design. But then you have 2 columns and they totally break your flow. Those columns still make it seem like you're building a "vertical" design but the content in the left column screams for a "horizontal" design. It can't breathe! It needs more padding but doesn't have the space.

So in short: you needs to lay out a grid and stick to it. Make wise use of white space.

The logo is cool but I don't particularly like the rest of the header.

The right column is ok but not very important, so I would change it to a one column layout and create a big header / middle part / footer.

Then last but not least try to make some clever use of typography and add some more colour to spice it up!

I think the design is okay but I would almost begin from scratch.

Ugh, I can't edit my rating 'cuz the current one is a bit too harsh. Don't pay too much attention to it :P. Rating is: OK, Goal is: Awesome! Right? ;)

i would remove the huge HOBO SAUCE logo

Posted on Apr 17, 2010 at 3:15 AM

I have just one thing that seems to be annoying the whole design. The huge unnecessarily big logo or header area seems to be not going with the whole design.

Also the red sauce color with the blue. NOP! doesnt do it.

    pretty cool merchandise.

    Thanks

    logo banner

Posted on Apr 17, 2010 at 5:47 AM

I feel like the logo banner throws it all off balance. I'd extend the edges of the fold to the edge of the main content area, so it folds where the news and comments headers fold.

Also, I'd change the blue color the banner blue clashes with the water blue and the sauce red.

    Dare more!

Posted on Apr 17, 2010 at 6:22 AM

I'm not sure on the budget on this one, but at first sight the feeling is that there was not enough dare in this one ....

Look at those shirt designs in there .... Do they deserve a "Mens" "Womens" tab or something more aggressive? (Dudes, etc. ).

Lots of pulp in there, so I guess if this has to be something "vertical", more pulp all all around would add up to the "experience" ... Make those shirts design stand ...

A trick, if you deal with a few: make them interact w/ the background ... In a shirt blood is being thrown off ? Make it splat on the background in the right spot ... Robots having an intercourse? Have in the background the tall one peek in ...

Play around w/ the concepts, you can get this far more intriguing ...

And make it extra extra super easy to add to cart, get sizes, shipping details, etc. ... right from the start ... I want a super informative buying experience ... I want to know when I get it if I am stroke by a buying frenzy now ... I want to know that if I buy 3 I get something special ... and so on, shipping expenses, tracking, currencies, etc. etc.

Get that logo redone (honest suggestion) and yes on what others said ... models ... but don't take just simple shots ... make them "live the shirts" .. replay the scenes that are depicted on the shirts ... etc.

    Enjoy and all the best!

    Good direction

Posted on Apr 17, 2010 at 7:52 AM

I'm definitely getting a comic book, Kevin Smith, Jay and Silent Bob vibe.. and I like it. I think the direction complements the shirt designs well. To expand on Axura's comment, the tabs definitely need some more attention. Right now, they don't mesh with the rest of the site. Since you are using image text you could go with a more creative font-face. The tab labels definitely do not need to be so politically correct, as the t-shirts are anything but. I'd also think about a different treatment for the logo, The blue banner is a little dry. it may look good without a background...

Check your padding/margin in your sidebar.

I'd give the user some indication that they are being redirected to Paypal when they click "add to cart".

Overall I like the design, the header looks fantastic but the bottle is off a little and I can't put my finger on what it is that I don't like about it. The typography on the header is right on and the colors work very well together.
I think the banners over the latest news and recent comments is overplayed in my opinion but they are still very popular. The biggest issue though is the footer which looks like an afterthought as stated earlier.

    Not working

Posted on Apr 18, 2010 at 7:25 PM

i think this is a good attempt at being different and creative but generally I don't think it works. The logo within the header bar is far too large and needs to be taken out of the design and put up top where I don't need to see it all the time. The 3d bar in general is poorly done and doesn't really look 3d. Your thumbnails are too large for the space they are in and your text within the content area leaves much to be desired. I think you might benefit from starting fresh on this one.
