I think the third concept has some possibility but still needs a lot of work. The font that you chose isn't really working, nor is the differently sized words. The object needs some interest, you chose pretty bland colors. It could use some gradients, strokes and shadows to make it much more interesting.

I agree with most of the review. However, tricking up the symbol just for a bit of visual interest won't mean much unless you make it speak more about the kind of company they are/ work they do/ industries they serve. So, give it a bit more conceptual thought before settling on the final form.

      Hope this helps.

Yeah, I don't disagree that you need to continue to think through the object some more. I'm not completely sold on it.

    work on 3

Agree with the font and sizes - not working. Keep the idea from #3 and improve it.

Also, the colours are not very good - on black & white (think fax, stationery, branded pens). Add some contrast there.

And you should add some keyword as for what "consulting" stands for (could go below the logo).

change combination of font and simbol

Like the third font and the second simbol. The third simbol does goes in the "merge" concept. like the colors but the shapes could have some work on.

    The typeface needs some work...

This is a safe, corporate design. That's good for your target audience, however, it is too safe. This will get lost in the mass of corporate logos already out there. I would concept some more on your logo element. Try using the letters M and C and forming a logotype that way – similar to your previous concept with the m in the circle, but a bit more involved. Also, drop the colors and work in black and white for now (or better, sketch it out). You can come back to the colors once you hammer out the details of the logo itself. Final note - the typeface needs to be reconsidered. Try blending a sans serif with a serif. Judging by the mood of what you appear to be going for, you may want to consider something with a tall x height. It will give it a friendly, open appeal (not too corporate scary).

    bring depth into the design

I mostly prefer the bottom version.

    Why?

    1. The logo is the only one, which really symbolizes the "merge"-effect.

    2. Try a different font for "consulting"

    3. Try a more powerfull colour (BLACK), schadows or gradients.

    Show merging in the logo

Posted on Apr 16, 2010 at 2:04 PM

So you like Diavlo for a font ;-) None of these logos are terribly iconic or memorable. That is often the intent of a logo, nor do they represent the consulting or even the name in any sense. I like to think of the logo in terms of a pictograph of the company it represents. Ideally a thousand years from now an archeologist could dig up something with the logo on it and have a clue about what the company does.

Not always necessary, Nike has a logo that is just a swoosh but they also spend billions on advertising, the logo doesn't have to carry any weight.

Anyways the best of the three here is the third, because at least the two parts are merging. I would play with it more. The M in the name has potential for a merging item, the two words themselves can be (Think FedEx). What does Merge Consulting do? Is there an image in the biz itself?
