    need to work on typography

Posted on Apr 14, 2010 at 1:27 AM

    Hi Nichols,

Good work Nichols, I like your design.

    Few of my thoughts:

    • typography could be even better, Arial doesn't seems working here also font size could be reduce

    • I like the logo concept of flying camera which is working but i think if you play around with the typography it can be better. Also, if it's a logo provided by client then you just need to work on the size/ and arrangement of the logo and try couple more options

    • I think it would be easy to elaborate more and give descriptive feedback if you could add more details in your concept description and a live URl will be better to give you the right feedback

Overall it's really very nice work and just a bit more attention needed to make it more close to what it could be

I hope above comments will helps you.

    Thanks

    Attention to detail

Posted on Apr 14, 2010 at 6:02 PM

The photograph here is really stunning and is doing all the work but the design elements rather than working with it are detracting from it. Make the design elements quiet and let the photo do the work

The narrow block running down the middle of the page isn't working well with the background image - this feels too stark in pattern and is not combining well with the foreground. Maybe with some work to create depth to what is happening in the foreground to lift the rest above this background or just go for a simple gradient behind. It feels like superfluous unecessary pattern.

Finally attention to detail on the navigation items - the hard black blocks with arial aren't doing it for me. The glow behind is nice on hover but more work needed on these.

Line height on the sell text needs to be bigger to create more breathing space for the copy and to make it easier to read and finally more interest on the unordered list with nice custom bullets - maybe little flying cameras taken from the logo for each list item?

    Engage your visitors

Posted on Apr 15, 2010 at 1:29 PM

    Think big. Think bold.

Experiment with bigger, nicer fonts for your headlines.

Link your services to their related galleries.

Make your contact form friendlier. It's not even trying to be pretty.

You want visitors to contact? Make it easy. Add contact links to the end of the galleries. Add contact links in every image description for the light/thickbox.

    Usability

    Hi Ed,

    1. I suggest you simplify contact form (see screenshot)

    2. Content of Services is disappointing. I felt like being tricked into looking there. I know I didn't pay for this click :) but nevertheless if you put a separate page make it worth being separate :)

I like the concept and the contrast. The website itself feels somewhat static. It would benefit a lot from a moving element, or working to keep not too much information below the fold. Perhaps a slightly smaller version of the main picture left-aligned with content on the right would be a better use of space?

    It's nice

Nice, I like it. Try to make the shadow below the buttons more realistic, and add a drop shadow or something to your background (the content background, the black one)
