Overall, I like the simplicity, but I'd ditch the classic movie stills background image in the header. To me, it doesn't add anything to the design, and I've seen it a hundred times before.
I like the clean and minimalist homepage. I'm not so keen on just the scrolling covers by themself - maybe some user control so they can go forward/back.
The header is full width but the homepage isn't (rest of site appears to be).
The badges could be sharpened . Maybe post the latest twitter post as well? I was expecting more than just the link.
I don't know what purpose the TV and DVDs serve but I don't like it. Just my opinion.
The Moviepage is nicer. I like the twitter and similar movies. The icons there are sharp but the 'badges' and rating numbers aren't.
I don't like the term system generated.
It works but I don't think it's nearly interesting enough:
Start with those changes and see where that takes you.
Take out the images in the header. Use tableless layouts. You need some more colors/boxes/ web 3.0 content in #main-content2. The section with the tv, scrolling images and "The best way to find new movies... " should be wrapped with a background image with a stand out color. Make it span the whole width of the page.
The design is nice, but it is more of a wireframe or block level design.
For a start: 1. Try using some custom icons or use icons with same style. 2. The search box is too close to the menu links. 3. Design the search box with some more style. 4. Try making the website either more elegant or more stylish as it has to feel like a movie website.
Hi Brian, you have designed a clean website but I don't think it's obvious and easy enough for users.
It's not obvious how to start exploring?
picture on the homepage with this movie flying out of the screen suggest online rental or movie streaming. I don't think you need it. It's not meaningful enough.
I would put login inputs in the top right corner where your search is and movie search below the menu on the white area.
I'm not sure site should scale to the whole page size. Especially because your homepage has limited width which makes the logo escape to the left.
I suggest you decide which menu elements are important and frequetnly used like: Dashboard, Discounts etc and move all low value elements like Profile, sign out to the text menu a the top of the screen (where login would be on the home page)
Keep with the good work :)
Overall I love the concept - I go to the movie festival in my home town every year and see about 30 movies in 10 days so I would actually find this quite useful.
I think Home Page of the website is so clean and attractive. You had given all the great features on that page. But I was thinking if some more movies can also be added on the top of website. I own a movie website and it also looks same as this website. I was also looking to add review column. Thanks for sharing a great design.
