I really like this, it looks really clean and fits the subject matter well. A few things you might want to look at include:
The main thing in that list is the alignment. Put some time into that and you'll have a great looking portfolio. The rest would just be those final touches that make a good design great (in my opinion at least :) )
This looks really nice (love the background, the colors work really well, the way the photo works adds dimension), but looking at it makes me want to get in there and line things up a bit better.
For example, the right margin is a lot bigger than the left one (which is a bit tight anyway) - try applying the same margin to the left side. This will also shorten the line length a little and make it easier to read.
Also, the colourful tabs are nice, but the labels are a bit washed out against the bright backgrounds (especially with the vertical alignment). They might be a bit easier to read if you used a bold font with a bit more padding.
Hope that helps!
Cheers, Jack
I like this, its a great idea, something I had been thinking about doing myself actually.
My only issue is that the whole thing is so well layed yet your image is squint, I would staighten that up, and your good to go.
You have some padding issues on your text, the right side is more than the left.
Looks nice & clean. I have only problem with the fonts and the icons.
Everything is aligned properly, only the image is crooked. Align it correctly, then it'll be perfect. Nice job!
Brilliant template, really like the idea and style of it.
Apart from that it's about all I can criticize it, really like it!
the website reminds me of the coloured tabs on books, but without the depth. maybe a shadowed border at the bottom of each coloured section will break it up more.
When it comes to resumes/cvs you should put your latest job first and then get older (from personal experience)
great look and feel, I would add a few social media icons to help recruiters save research time and see who you really are.
I love everything except for the picture. I want to see your face, not a picture of the back of your head with a life preserver.
Overall, this is a great resume site (great idea with the tabs - reminds me of the old days when we all did those tabs on real folders).
The only issue I see is that the text margin on the left is too crammed up against the tabs. Just add more padding/spacing there and I believe you will be good to go.
Great work, love the concept, the only thing I could suggest would be that in overall viewing the background image isn't tiling so well and has a 'wave' to it. Tweak that and it's a winner!
I think the idea is marvellous, and it caught my eye on the list of designs right away. I think this works very well as a resume.
What I would change however: - increase margins (too narrow on the left and lines too long - use more modern symbols in the contact area - add social media bookmarks - change the picture (the current picture is bad quality and too daring for such a conservative font. Which leads me too...) - The font of the text is very conservative and dull. Darker grey or black would enhance the impression.
At first glance, the categories on the right also confused me. It reminded of those blocknotes, where you have colour ordering. I was thinking "can I click there or not". And I just read Steve Krug's Don't Make Me Think book again, where he has a definitive stance against puzzling people whether something is clickable or not. But maybe the last comment concerns only me. You might want to try tabbing the thing, though, with the 'tabs' you already have on the left. That saves people from scrolling.
Good idea with the resume! Take care!
It looks a little flat to me. A little more color (perhaps matching headers with the side section colors) would bring the think out a little better. I'm not sure how much better - usability-wise) a one page design could get.
It does look like a resume and I think it would effectively serve it's purpose.
I think it is a great resume and the colour scheme is really good
I like what you have done here, its very original and snap to the point. I however do not like the slanted image, it throws your eye off the entire page.
I like the stars next to your skills & the colours used, very natural & easy to read.
Good job!
Overall I think the design and idea are fantastic but I think the content needs something more to separate each section. The tabs do a decent job but additional white space or a light horizontal rule would do a better job. I have to assume the image is just a place holder unless your applying for a job as a 14 year old shipmate =D Nice design.
Things I would change: - Font of section headings "Web Design", "User Interface Design" etc. The font spacing also looks a bit strange. - I would add something to the section "tabs". The plain colours make it look a bit stark. - Page background I would change to a simple pattern. - Actual resume background from that textured gray to a gradient.
