    Logo

The 'd' on destiny falls more like a hyphen than part of the second word. Maybe if the 'estiny' is moved closer then it will read a little better.

There is a nice balance of serif and sans faces.

There is nice consistency of approach throughout. There is slightly tighter horizontal space above the logo on the home page to the other pages and I prefer the other pages but it feels nice and fine for your target audience.

On the 'about me' section, I'd leave out your liking reading of books, exercising etc as it doesn't create such a professional image and also the interests are not particularly original and they're unrelated to your design capabilities. It's nice for clients to be able to feel you are personable and approachable but this is done already in the chatty way you introduce your approach to your work.

    A good start

Posted on Apr 12, 2010 at 8:55 PM

This is a good start but needs some work.

    1. Keep the logo to the left on all pages
    2. Don't put your header on the background image, contain it in some sort of box.
    3. Your paragraph in the header on the home page is too much. Also, make it the same width as the rest of the page
    4. Your content area is really plain, oddly spaced and unengaging.

This is a good first step but needs to be taken further.

      Thanks for the feedback!

Do you have any suggestions to make the content area more appealing and engaging? I can understand why it is unappealing, but I'm not sure how to change it.

Your inner pages aren't bad but the home page is the one that really bothers me. I would make the "What I can Offer" column extent the entire width of the design and put it in a pink bold box. Then maybe below list your most recent three designs. Just a thought, you're going to have to play around with it.

On your homepage the list of "What I offer" is not very engaging and from the look of your target market you could expand on this to make it a lot more visually stimulating.

    I would change this to:

"What I can do for you:"

Then break it up and use icons to represent each point. with a little bit of text describing what that section means.

    IE:
What I can Do For You
    Unique, and Individually Tailored Designs
All my design's are bespoke and tailored to meet your website needs.

    Fast Loading Times
My websites are designed with speed in mind, giving a more enjoyable experience for you and your users.

etc etc. A good copy writer would really make these sections shine if its the approach you decided to take.

The logo doesnt "pop", its nice just needs a little work, the D looks like an O to me.

Your contact form needs looking at, it is not very engaging and looks very very basic, as this is the page you want to get most of your visitors to it really lets down the message you are trying to convey throughout the rest of the website.

      Thanks for your feedback (:

I can see how my contact page is unappealing. Do you have any specific suggestions to make it more appealing? I was thinking of redesigning the contact box, but I still feel like I need to add more to the page itself. If you don't mind, can you expand on that advice so I can properly adjust my website?

I would look at changing the colour scheme really, making it fit in more with your overall design. You use * to represent a required field, but no where do you put * = Required. I would probably go with 100% width and left alignment on the input fields. One examples of a nice form: http://www.haveamint.com/contact I think using some of your site colours and enhancing the submit button http://speckyboy.com/2009/05/27/22-css-button-styling-tutorials-and-techniques/ are the first places to touch on.

    Whitespace, colors maybe, contact form

Posted on Apr 16, 2010 at 12:08 PM

I'm not a big fan of the colors you have chosen... in the portfolio page you have whitespace problems... I think you used the 960 grid that has 10 pixels left/right margins... I always build a custom grid based on the content it needs to be on the page and not the other way around... also I think both description and the "read more" link must be more closer to the project description... proximity stuff...

In the Services page, same whitespace issues, and don't like the form bg and centered content... looks you didn't took the time to customize it and make it work with the site design...

And I read the "D" from the logo as "O" first time...

I like you have clear call to action, although again I think the buttons are too close...

    Good Luck :)

Actually, I am using the 960 grid system, but it must not be that obvious :/

I have been thinking about taking out the black of my color scheme. What part of the color scheme do you not like?

I am currently working on the contact form so it can be more appealing, so after I get some more criticism, I will ask for more feedback. I'm really trying to make my website engaging to my audience, so I'll be working on this for awhile xD

      Hey Nicole,

I think the pink is what I don't like, I'm ok with the blue and black although you could try a navy dark blue instead of the black, maybe the pink is too girlish for me :) and also reminds me of flickr :)

There are a ton of palettes you might want to check/try on http://www.colourlovers.com/palettes/

      Hope this helps :)
