    Lose the glow :)

Posted on Apr 02, 2010 at 4:11 AM

    Hi Miro,

The bokeh effect that's created on that website is basically what you already have but without the inner/our glow. The glow you want to create is with big blurred botches of white that all have low opacity.

Look at this one: http://buildinternet.com/wp-content/uploads/envato-thumb.jpg Much more simple and effective (or better said realistic).

Good luck & Happy Easter :)

    depth

try to add depth by changing more than size of your bubbles, but also effects, opacity and light.

Background could be better with a "not so blue" blue and gradient to make it more real (like sky or sea), and maybe some glowing light coming from one side of the image.

    Keep working

Posted on Apr 02, 2010 at 8:37 AM

I think your right, you don't have a lot of depth on this. The effect you are going for is called a "Bokeh" effect. You can find tutorials here:

    http://www.photoshopwebsite.com/photoshop-tutorials/15-bokeh-effects-photoshop-tutorials-100bokeh-brushes-for-free-download/

I think part of the problem is that you don't really have fills on any of the shapes. The shapes need to have varied levels of opacity's on the fill. Keep working on it.

Thanks, Nate. I found the same site just couple of hours ago. I am currently trying to make the background better, those were very good ready made brushes!

Maybe not as bad as you think

Posted on Apr 02, 2010 at 12:20 AM

It has some dimensional qualities, add some type and graphics and it might start to look cool.

But if you want it to have more depth. make the bigger circles more opaque and let the smaller ones start to fade a bit. Start over from scratch and create one or two big ones, a few more mediums and the fill in with various smaller sizes.

I've seen tuts for this kind of thing out there. I just don't remember where.

    Good luck.
