    green read more boxes

Posted on Mar 30, 2010 at 2:30 PM

Really nicely done. I can't wait to see the finished product because I have a feeling it will be very slick!

It's very well organized for the amount of information that needs to be shown. The colours are great and they lead the eye right where they should.

The only thing that I'm not sure about is the little green 'read more' boxes. They don't really balance well within the traffic news section - seems heavy on the right side with little on the left so I'm not drawn to read anything, just the bright green box.

Other than that, very well done.

    Well done

Actually, I liked your original version but this is much better. The content doesn't look crowed anymore, hierarchy is better and the picture adds a quote of warmth. I think you nailed it this time, my friend.

Only 1 thing that I'm not sure, is the colour of the background. But that's a minor issue.

    Thumbs up!

Thank you very much, Ezequiel. The bg color is one the companys 4 secondary colors, I thought this was the best of them for this purpose.

    Background/link color.

Posted on Mar 30, 2010 at 6:56 PM

This is a great site! I especially love the way you've done the wrap around box.

The background color may need more thought...it seems to just come out of nowhere - I don't see it anywhere else beside the link(s) in the middle of the content and it doesn't work well with the green.

    Nice work! :D

Hi, Ashe. FYI I changed the bg-color before sending this to the client, so a good suggestion!

    Getting better

Posted on Mar 31, 2010 at 7:43 AM

This is getting better. Here's a few suggestions I might consider:

    1. Increase the height of the yellow bars
    2. Choose a different color for the background.
    3. Love what you have done with the blue bar, but just make the columns within it wider. There is too much space between the two columns.
    4. Increase the padding on the three columns at the bottom.
    5. Think about using a very subtle background image or gradient.
    6. Make the large header image more interesting. Maybe add some sort of subtle inner shadow and stroke?

Great progress so far, keep it up!

Hello, Nate! Thank you for the suggestions. What I already did (of these) before sending the layout to the client is: bg-color changed to around #e9e5db, added light gradient to the bg and added forms of the logo to the header image shape.
