Very lovely. The shape of the tree and the use of dots is very interesting.
As a personal gift it is great but if you want to take it to the next level, I'd change a few things.
The background and the tree don't make sense together. The tree is too bright, saturated and crisp to be sitting on a faded vintage texture. To tie them more try adding some faded areas or distressing to the tree and desaturating the colours a bit. The scale of the pattern is also overpowering the scale of the tree.
If you want to keep the vibrancy of the dots I would change the background to a different style.
Another interesting thing to try would be adding some depth to the tree by using darker colours for dots in areas that would be in shadow.
Just interesting things to consider. Oh, I would change the colour of that dark navy dot in the center of your composition. It is very distracting.
nice work!!
I think you've made a wonderful design here. Its really great and simplistic and you even did a good job with the colors. I think that I would try to even vary the dot sizes bit more. You have so many that are the same size as they go out to the branches, and you could even make bigger dots in the trunk area. Also I don't know if the dark background is part of the card or not, but if it is, I don't know if its necessary. But really a great design. Nice job.
hi there Kyle,
first of all, thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it. In the initial design, I used various dot sizes (approximately up to 10 different sizes). but it was kinda time consuming and hard to keep track of what I was doing. So, I scrapped that version. The one you see now is the 2nd version and here I decided to use only 4 different dot sizes. While forming the tree shape with these dots, it seemed a good decision because it saved me a lot of time. However, after reading your feedbacks, I realised my decision of using only 4 different dot sizes was not a good decision, at least not as good as I thought before. So, I see and agree with your point. In similar prospective projects, I'll keep your feedback in mind. Thanks.
This is much better than previous versions. I like tree, colors and background!
I really love this design. I wish it were something different then just a birthday, really cool design. Great work!
If you allow me to dink around with your obviously wonderful design ... I would place either a bird on one of the branches or hang a heart by a string from one of the branches. That may make the card too pedestrian.
hello William,
thanks for the feedback. honestly, while designing I had the idea of placing some extra elements such as birds and a rainbow around and on the tree. But those extras would have made the poster kinda crowded, in my opinion.
regards.
i agree. i think anything else would make the design a little too busy. I love this design. :-)
nothing to change, i love it!
this is very thoughtful and sweet of you...nothing to change! its already great!
dude! just how many girlfriends you've got? lol just kidding..well shes a lucky one to have a designer as a boyfriend...(we work wonders!)..^_^
hi there Dan Allen,
thanks for the feedback and nice words.
to answer ur question, in general they're my really close female friends. however, some of them were my girlfriends once upon a time =) cheers mate.
I think this is great, very creative, love the colors. The only thing I would change would be to make the" happy birthday johanna" smaller and put it at the bottom of the poster, then put a message instead. The only reason I say this is because I would hang this on my wall, but I might not want to hang it if it said happy birthday on it... Just a personal thing! Otherwise looks amazing. Very thoughtful too.
hello Erica,
thanks for the feedback. If you really want to hang it on your wall, I can arrange something for you. I can take away happy birthday text, and then send you the poster via e-mail. So you can print and hang it on your wall. If my proposition sounds good, drop me a message with your e-mail address so I'll send it to you as soon as possible.
regards.
Johanna is one lucky girl.
I like the idea to wish your friend a happy birthday that way!
she likes bubbly-trees ?
happy birthday to johanna :)
If you dropped the birthday message. I would buy this as a print in a heart beat. The background has such a nice touch to it. Love it.
hey Alexandra,
If you want, send me a private message with ur e-mail address so that I can drop the birthday message and send you printable pdf file. what do you say?
My favorite part of the poster background, its like one of those old book covers with the sort of tree like print.
I dont know what to add and I had to search really long but nothing more than: Try a bigger typo is left to say! Well done
Hey Julius,
Thanks for the comment and advice. I could have opted for bigger typo, but I didn't want to draw too much attention on the text. My objective was to have viewer's attention mainly on the tree and then the background.
vmnvn
the overall design & concept is very very nice.. but bg can be try more not suits with the so colourful tree. can be white also with the text written in colors. and to give the theme you mentioned above birds can be placed in the design in some place. so that it will creat the mood of love .. thanks man great work
I really like it. Nice concept but I think you should try to make you tree look real.I mean, some dots need to be smaller and darker so that the tree looks more "3d"
But I sure your girl will love it, for she has such a caring boyfriend ♥
Looks great, you nice job Metin. I really like this. I can't find anything I'd change. Love it!!
I think she will like it. Have you tried light pink for the background?
thanks Miro for the feedback. I tried several other pastel colours, including pink, for the background, but none worked better than this.
Looks great.
hi Erin,
thanks for the constructive feedback. I've noted all your points and will definitely consider them for prospective projects.
