This is a great design, I would only add some more space. The slideshow and the footer breath pretty well, but the content and the sidebar need more air I think! But seriously, I'm being picky this is a well done website!
I think you should define a default space between elements so your content will be much more friendly. I usually choose 20px, and make a 20px space between elements.
I would definitely move the conversion box to be above the fold. The large picture is nice and will probably grab eyeballs, but there is no call to action there. I would reduce the size and get some subtle prompts in there.
The client has a huge customer base already, so their concern is not so much conversion. Strange right? They wanted content and advertising over conversion and subscription.
There really isn't much wrong with this at all, its great. The only thing i would fix is the padding in the middle column, the text goes far to close to the edges.
Nice work.
I like everything but lots of information and logo.
The main layout looks good as an image like it is, the only thing that you might look at is the size of the header image. On a basic computer screen it might cut off below and the user never sees the content unless they scroll.
Other than that, look great!
The client wanted a strong photograph dominant at the top. I total agree though. I'll take a look at 1024x768 to make sure...
The contents of the right column look a bit messy. You have lines going in various directions, and magazines coming out of their containers. So I would rotate the magazines and the dividing line in the middle box in the same angle and keep everything inside the container boxes.
What you have here works well for your purposes, but if I had to be picky here's what I would do:
It would have been helpful to see the inside page as well.
Since this is a another media in order to supplement their magazine i would except a more magazine layout to follow.
The left right margins make it feel a little old style. Try and put the social network logos on the footer as well in order the user to able to visit them at anytime(unless they stay there in the inside pages as well).
