Very nice and consistent style in the header and the content area. But I would still work on the lower part and the footer. They look like they "don´t belong" - I mean those grey areas.
I think in the middle part the lighter bg kept the content better "together", but the lower part is better with the darker bg. But change the font color lighter in the lower part now, otherwise it is very hard to read the text there.
I thin your footer is the only thing that seems to not maintain the flair and glare of the rest of the site. Maybe it's the rainbow-ish bird that doesn't do it for me.
Oh oh, actually it's the blank spot on the footer right. You used up everything but that spot... looks empty.
Very kewl. Vivid and engaging!
Yeah, That right hand space was a bit of a void, I have updated it now as you can see with the new concept image.
I am thinking the darker style brings more attention to the content... do you agree?
thanks
This is such a unique and colourful design; I love the simple layout and excellent use of typography. The second version is much better than the first and, I think, increases visibility for the navigation bar.
The only things I see that would help is to brighten up the pink and tan colours in the footer just a bit. That way they would coincide nicely with the other bright colours. I'd also recommend making the Twitter bird a solid colour - he would be easier to spot and it would enable the rainbow strip to be identified more strongly with your brand.
Overall, great job!
Serina,
Thanks for your feedback :)
I have posted a few more pages, I brighten up the footer text like you suggested and that worked well : )
I have also played with the twitter logo and used one solid colour. I am not sure which i like though :)
It is nice to see bold colors used well. I love the header and the unique navigation idea. I'm not too sure about the rainbow color twitter icons, seems there is already enough color that this is redundant.
I like the improvements you made on the footer. The font is a bit difficult to read, adjusting the color to be higher contrast would help a lot.
Lastly, the body copy seems close to the edges, adding a bit more margins on the sides would give it some breathing room.
thanks ryan,
i have posted an image with your suggestions, i think i prefer grey twitter image under header but rainbow one in the footer, as it mirrors colours further down the page.
I love the use of color here Joe. Your layout is a consistent grid throughout your design and its easy to understand, from the user, where I am at at all times. Your attention to detail on the bump icon is great.
I really like how you let the color of the works standout and center the users attention on the navigation and the works.
Only trouble spot I see is the twitter Icon. In one it's colored, in another it's white. Is this to show a rollover effect?
Also I think you could lose the illustration (etc) designator on the thumbnails within the section (second image). It is apparent in my opinion that what I, the user, am seeing are your illustrations since I have navigated here.
One last piece is that I would like to see how you handle the title/category display on the thumbnail. A roll-over effect of fading that bar on would be nice to see and allow the imagery to stand out even more from the design when static.
Thanks for your feedback,
The twitter icon is two versions, not a rollover, I was just testing different versions.
Yeah, I think you maybe right with the designators within each section. Less distraction on the image if i removed them. will try it.
I hadn't thought of a rollover effect on the images, if it faded away that would be a nice dynamic visual addition. Thanks will look into that and most probably use it! cheers
I like the idea you've got going on here. The header is original, and you have a pretty good flow of content - the user gets to the content pretty quickly. However, I don't like the you've implemented all the content. One thing that especially bothers me is the bottom twitter "caption" - it just looks really thrown together.
I like this layout much more that the previous one. the elements complement each other more successfully.
Great job!
If the top design is the latest, thats the one im liking best. Like the play with the title and navigation. good colors as boarder/bg, goes well with illustration style.
Great work!
A few things to tweak here and there but all in all, that is a engaging and colourful design!
Look forward to seeing the site up and running or more content pages!
well done
This isn't bad, very colorful and creative. I'm not sure that I like the the logo being part of the navigation. I would make the logo much smaller and align it left. Just my thoughts, take them as such.
Looks nice! I would make the tweet bird look normal though...
Could maybe make the page links stand out a little better?? Looks pretty sweet
I like the overall design and feel of the website. I just felt a bit lost as far as navigation was concerned on the top. It felt like the links were getting lost in the colors and were not as apparent as they should be.
I really like your twitter bird!
Thanks Usman,
Its a point Elly made as well and with the new tweaked version I think the navigation is more pronounced. What do you think?
not sure where to focus my attention..logo or graphics....navigation gets completely lost for me.
Elly, I agree... I think the new image I have just posted better highlights the navigation
On the actual site I will use a sprite image for the navigation bar and change the opacity on hover, which should highlight the navigation menu.
I like it at all. I like header - its original. I like bird, but i think that site is too simple. You`ve started from creative and fresh concept but did not save this mood till the end.
like russians said: you`ve started with health but finished with death))
I think you should add more details and fresh tips. smaller thumbnails some text maybe or other content and something more interesting in footer - for example try to continue color theme in lines trough all site long. try to make background in colors of header but not so bright and finish it with bright colors again in footer. Sorry for my english but i hope you understand me))
I have just uploaded a new darker version, what do you think? Am I still finishing with death>?
No)) Its better but still i think that pictures are too big)) what do you think if try to make it whiter? and use my idea with continuing lines?
I tried it with different opacity and shades but it just didn't look right.... i supplied a subtle grid that i couldn't keep to. I will have a try with smaller images
I have changed the background grey theme to a darker one, what do you think? does it put the attention on the content better than the lighter grey one?
