nice design. great concept. i like the sitemap at the bottom of the site. i prefer the second version of the sitemap colors. i think the arrangement in the main content area could be better, maybe one column with a background color... in the teaser, i would give more left padding, that top bottom and left padding are the same.

    Good start

I like 1st version better, the grays match so well with pink.

    Some comments:

    1. Though the layout is well structured, the content looks to crowed, you get lost on it.

    2. I agree with Roger, some background on any of the column will make the site easier to follow.

    3. Also I'd like to sugesst to emphasize headlines (from the blog, today's tip, etc.) a little bit more.

    4. Another thing, the logo looks quite lost in the composition, is there any version of it inverted? I mean pink background and white text, that will stand it out much better.

Appart from that is a great online magazine's layout.

    Stronger Headers

Posted on Mar 19, 2010 at 10:29 PM

I like the 1st layout better as its neat and easier to scan.

Only thing I'd change is some stronger headers to clearly define and differentiate each section. Perhaps through color or background color. Also, a little more bottom margin after each content piece.

Check out www.marthastewart.com. Probably one of the best designed lifestlye portal / online magazine out there for inspiration.

    Boxes

First one is better, and it looks good! The only thing is, in the two leftmost columns, part of the information is in boxes and part of it is not. Maybe remove all the boxes?

    Like 1st one

Posted on Mar 20, 2010 at 6:31 PM

I like the first one. It looks easier to use. 2nd one is too crowded & less lined up. Also the font & bold of the 1st one's headings standout more so you can quickly scan it to find what you are looking for. Prefer again 1st with the colours used in the site map at bottom looks easier to read.

I like the colours combination used the shade of pink is more sophisticated than the girly pink.

    Number 1

Both sites look good, but number 1 is best. The only thing that you should consider is the amount of content you have on the page.

I like what you have here, though it does tread on being too busy. The first concept works much better then the second. The second has too many alignment issues. Here are few things that I would work on:

    1. The header is far too busy. Move the ads and search bar below the navigation menu. Also, try to separate the ad area from the content area more.
    2. Use the footer in the second concept, it works much better.
    3. Try to create visual rows in your content area. If you create the rows it help to make things look less busy.
    4. Don't indent your headings, keep them justified to the left.

Great start here, keep up the good work!
