    I would add some icons

Posted on Mar 16, 2010 at 11:14 PM

Looks good overall. I just think it could use some icons to help your eyes move. The sections are a little subtle in distinction, so icons will help.

Is there a reason that the phone number is on one page and not the other?

From a marketing standpoint, I think you need a clearer call to action. "Sign up for a Free quote," etc.

Thanks for your feedback. I haven't dipped into the icon thing yet, but will do some searching to see if I can find something sharp, but simple, to include.

I wasn't sure about the phone number so I left it out of 1 of the concepts for critiquing.

    First one is better

Posted on Mar 17, 2010 at 2:00 AM

First concept with phone number on top and service overview in box seems to better.

Color including background design is superb.

I am not sure how header flash is connected with top horizontal menu. There is small arrow under link "Home" and arrow is attached with flash. Do you have separate flash for every page? or you have flash or every page?

    Overall 5 star rating.

Appreciate the feedback Vinod. I was planning to make the home page slideshow with jQuery. The CSS navigation would simply add the triangle image as a background image placed at the bottom to make it look like it is attached to the slideshow.

    Looking much better

Posted on Mar 17, 2010 at 7:56 AM

I really like the progress on this one. The top concept is looking really good. Here are some additional thoughts:

    1. Add a large (5px) border to the services overview
    2. Match the blue colors at the top and in the content area.
    3. Try to pull the yellow color into the content area

Other than that, I really like what you have done!

I will play around with a border around the services overview. I see the disconnect with the blue colors, but the light blue in the header is not legible in the services overview box and the dark blue isn't legible in the header... Same goes for the yellow, but I'll try.

    Space out the services overview

Posted on Mar 17, 2010 at 10:22 AM

I prefer the first. very nice design and like I said above if i had to change one thing it would be to make better use of the services overview box which has some empty space at the bottom.

    Progress is great!

Posted on Mar 18, 2010 at 11:01 AM

I really like both concepts, but prefer the first one. The content seems to stand out more to me. I would suggest removing the 'Call us' at the top. I agree with Stuart on the icons.

    Good job!

Great, thanks for the feedback. I'll do some research on icons...

Add the roof graphic from the old one.

Posted on Mar 18, 2010 at 11:55 AM

I love the first one the best, but feel it is missing the element of the roof graphic which helped to direct your eye to certain elements. Other than that really nice.

Thanks for the review Matt. Maybe I could bring the roof into the middle of the services overview area or scale it down and use it as an icon before the headings...

still kinda like to see the nav inline with the logo

Posted on Mar 20, 2010 at 5:33 PM

Great work! I think your top version here is great (the one with the light background under the content). I think you've used very nicely done graphical touches, and the design supports the content very well.

I'd still like to see the nav elements in line with the logo, but having the phone number above them justifies how it is. You could also consider switching the phone and the nav, but that's just preference.

    GREAT WORK!

Hey Joel. Thanks for the review. Do you think it's okay to have the 2 different blue's (light in the header and dark in the content)? Unfortunately, neither works well in both places. I think I'll move the logo down more so the bottom of the house is in line with the nav, at the least.

Yeah i think you're fine with those use of blue. Again, I think what you've designed here is very good work Andy.
