    I like it

Posted on Mar 12, 2010 at 11:41 AM

Overall I like it. It's pleasing and well organized. My suggestions for improvement are typographical.

Leading is all over the place. I would prefer to see more care taken to ensure the vertical rhythm is maintained. Example, the blog page: The headlines are way to spaced out, when compared to the sidebar headers. Also there is no horizontal grid or consistency between the two columns. Those items are easy to fix though.

The second thing, that I am not to keen on, are the large images on the blog page. They force the content into a narrow column, and reduce readability. It also makes the page look as if all three columns have the same importance. So there isn't a sense of hierarchy anywhere.

    Keep to the grid

Posted on Mar 15, 2010 at 5:17 AM

Very nice design but… When doing a grid layout it's vital to keep to the intended grid. If you want to think "outside the box" do so sparsely and with a purpose. The first page has a different width than the second one. Don't know if they are to be sequential but if they are, align them to the same grid and you're set.

I believe aligning everything to a 12 paragraph grid will sort out most of your problems.

Also: Typo - Use normal text weight for bread. The Read the rest… has a totally different design style. Put in a box or just leave it in a link color. The pink is a bit too dark. Think about the contrast for readability.

Overall, this is a nice theme. I would like to make a few suggestions:

    1. Change the pink -I would go for something more neutral
    2. Fix the alignment in the footer -I think it would look better with the lists left-aligned)
    3. Change the readmore buttons -I don't think it works well with the design. I would either design something and change the colours or font.

    Try one solid color

Posted on Mar 18, 2010 at 1:39 PM

Try one solid color that stands out but is not hard to look at. The color choices come off Easter like, but I like the layout a lot. Try a Dark Teal color maybe...

    Nav

Posted on May 05, 2010 at 4:19 PM

This is a really nice theme, the only thing I would change is the nav. Visually I like the current style as a static nav, but I don't think it works very well as a drop down.

    OK, cool theme ..

Posted on Mar 11, 2010 at 8:45 PM

this is a very cool theme you have done here, but I think :

    1. change the very top icons to fit your theme ..

    2. if you swab the white and yellow colors in the paragraphs will be better .

    3. try reordering the contacts info and it's icons in the footer.

finally are there any problem in the navigation at the first pic ? if not so I would prefer the navi of the second one.

    good work

    Great Design

Posted on Mar 12, 2010 at 2:06 AM

I really like this design. But I have to say it's a great design for a website not a blog. If you want this for a website, then there's nothing you really need to change, the design is great. But if you want this for a blog, I'm afraid I have to say the design is not really suitable for a blog.

Well, I had another look and it seems you intended the first design to be for a website and the second one for a blog (I should've noticed before I post my review).

      Both designs are great actually.

Thanks Waleed. Yeah, its meant to be able to be used for either website, blog, or portfolio. There's a template for each which can be set as the main page.

    Swab yellow and white text

Posted on Mar 12, 2010 at 6:53 AM

    Hi,

I really like it , but i will suggest if you swab the white and yellow colors in the paragraphs will be better .

All main description texts should be white.

    Organize the footer!

Posted on Mar 12, 2010 at 7:12 AM

I really like the design and the colors!

I only think you should organize the footer a litle bit. Make the paragraphs align to the title!

On the blog part I think you should add a litle more space between the titles of of the categories and the lils.

    The rest it´s great! =)

    Pink color

Posted on Mar 12, 2010 at 8:28 AM

The pink color is really killing the design. Try using the yellow color found in the image. The live version looks MUCH better. Also, your footer needs a lot of help. The heading positioned the way they are look pretty strange. Think about containing each heading in a subtle box.

Hey thanks for the feedback. I like the orange better too. Could you elaborate a little on what you said about the footer? What looks weird about it to you? It is aligned with the grid of the logo and sidebar.
