i think, you could be more creative

This is slightly too whimsicle, looks a little like a kids play site. The font is also extremely hard to read. There's too much yellow, it doesn't make me want to stay and read. Also, the imagery that you used doesn't really say "food" to me. Find a picture of a delicious meal prepared. Unfortunately I'd say there is a lot more work to be done on this before I can say I like it. It might be easier to start from scratch.

I actually think (for me anyway) the basic (foundation) design elements of this could work. My concern, I'd rework everything in the main content area... somehow it needs more imagery and/or to go to 2 or 3 columns. Sidebar is ok ... change graphics in sidebar -- yes/no?

The technical explanation escapes me at the moment ... but visually the content feels like it's not laying quite right -- columns / more photos / rearrange something if off.
