Nice logo, but would be improved with small tweaks

Posted on Mar 11, 2010 at 1:32 PM

Love your lines, and thr silluet logo is really working great. I think you would be able to improve the head and hand (which I think is a bit unclear).

    Keep it up.

    BR Michael

Any idea's as to how I could improve them? I want to keep it slightly vague, not too complicated. Thanks for your review!

Look into how abe skulls are formed and maybe some knuckles on the hand.

    Love it

If I were nitpicking I suppose some sort of faint knuckle line or something would help the logo a bit, but if the user above wouldn't have suggested it, I probably wouldn't have noticed. I would maybe make the stroke around the letters thinner, I'm personally not a fan of thicker strokes unless its much, much thicker, but then again I'm just nitpicking, I think you did a great job. Love the blue and white too!

Thanks, that's great to hear! I agree the knuckles are vague but I somehow feel that it looks better this way. I'll look into that. About the stroke; I personally don't like thick strokes either but (correct me if I'm wrong) this makes it look at bit less serious and a lot less complicated. Again, thanks for the compliments and feedback, much appreciated!

I think you're dead on with the seriousness being downplayed by a larger stroke. Don't know if this would look good or not, but what if you tried bumping up the white stroke even thicker, and then stroked that stroke with its own, thinner blue stroke? Might look cool, might make it look better. Honestly though, I think you're doing just fine on your own, might want to ignore us :)

I've been looking at it for way too long, I'm enjoying all the comments a lot and I will definitely consider using a thicker font and playing around with the text. Thanks!

    Nice Execution

I really like this logo. I could see it being anything from a website for Chimpanzee research to a childs candy brand.

The only thing that stands out to me is the elbow...looks a little off - too much of a smooth curve.

Thanks for your review! I can't believe I missed that, very well spotted! Like I said earlier, I've been looking at it for way too long, I'm missing huge things like the elbow. I'll definitely look into that. Cheers!

    Love the imagery

Posted on Mar 12, 2010 at 8:03 AM

I love the thinking ape imagery but the text and format of the logo isn't working. Think about putting the ape in a circle and changing up the look of the text.

Thanks Nate. Could you further elaborate on the circle idea? I don't want it to be too "button-y" or "web 2.0" but I can imagine it working with a surrounding shape. Not sure though, convince me, if you will. :)

Something like the Wordpress logo: http://wordpress.com/. The monkey character confined in the circular shape.

Great start to a unique idea!

Posted on Mar 12, 2010 at 4:27 PM

    A few things …

I'm wondering if you could use the negative space in the ape's arm to your advantage somehow. It seems to stick out a lot to me. Maybe make it heart-shaped to become some type of fundraising/non-profit sorta company, or the chimpanzee research company that Mike Pickett mentioned.

I also agree about the knuckle thing. You need to separate the hand from the head somehow.

Very intriguing design. I really like it a lot! As others have suggested, the arm needs some work!

I would work on the spacing between the letters

Posted on Mar 16, 2010 at 9:49 AM

Hi, I would work on the text, the font or the spacing between the letters.

Wish I could remove this nonsense. Completely downrate my design without providing any helpful feedback. The spacing has been mentioned before and I agree the text needs work. This comment however just points out there's "something" wrong. Too vague.

      Shame.

    spacing

Posted on Mar 17, 2010 at 9:06 PM

I understand that you are using letter weight to separate the words however it doesn't seem to flow well for me. Try a bit of spacing.
