    body text width

Posted on Mar 10, 2010 at 6:01 AM

Nice move from the previous version, although I think you've lost some of the structure that it had. I'd recommend making the body thinner so the lines aren't quite so long; they become hard to read. Also, the background color clashes with the two shades of blue you already have, and isn't a strong enough contrast for the white body text.

Thanks for the feedback, i have updated a 2nd version for the site, if you could give feedback on that.

Nice. Still think the length of a line in the body copy is too long. 15+ words per line becomes pretty hard to read. You could be generous with a margin on the left, and push the testimonials in from the right so the entire site width is from the logo to the 'contact' link. You'll have to move QuickQuote, copyright and footer links, but might be worth a shot. Might even result in your angled box corners breaking the boundaries and popping off the page more.

    Make it horizontal! =)

I like the overall feel of it and the cloudy background. But I think the diagonal lines make it a litle bit messy. If the lines were horizontal it would be a big improvement. I really don´t like drop shadows on the boxes. But that´s personal taste!

    Too fun

Posted on Mar 10, 2010 at 9:33 AM

This just looks too fun for the topic. If I'm coming to this site I don't want a bold, fun, in your face design. I want something that is straight forward, informative and clean. This looks like a monopoly board game. Sorry to be blunt, just trying to be honest.

Change the sign and drop the slideshow

Posted on Mar 11, 2010 at 5:38 PM

I like the improved version No. 2. Keep the solid blue bkgnd.

The thing that throws it out of alignment is the way the sign graphic points downward. It doesn't sit well with the upward slope of the header. So I suggest modifying the sign shape perspective completely to make the top of the shape follow the underside of the header, in parallel.

Secondly, I'd drop the slide show panel altogether and bring the blue bkgnd up to replace it. The result should be a simpler layout with a calmer feel, but still keep the diagonals that give the layout its visual tension.

    Hope this helps.
