Try to create a little contrast in the design. Everything looks so flat.
I think the whole idea is nicely done. I would make a little more depth in the design. And try to shorten the height of the full page. It looks like you have to scroll about 4 time to get to the bottom. No-one will do that....
But overall looks okay! Good luck
This isn't a bad concept but it's pretty busy. Do you really need all of the content? I would either think about cutting some of the content or not confining the page and letting the page rest on white background instead of the wood.
The background looks great, but the rest of the design is lacking some style. It looks like a very basic magazine ad with flat colors and basic shapes. At the least, I'd add some color to the navigation, add some faint gradients and maybe borders to the ads, and use the dark brown color for the headings rather than have everything blue.
If the goal is usability & navigation, and directing them to select a flooring category... I think you put the easiest way to do this (being the 2-column rectangles) too far down on the page.
The top section is also quite wordy: The logo has 5 products listed under it. The 3 links in the top right. The location and phone numbers under search box. And the navigation is very plain text as well.
I would also make the search box stand out more. You've squished it between too much text.
Try a more powerful/colorful/gradient/image-based navigation. And at the very least, move the "Select a flooring category" up above the "sale" and "go green".
I think it meets your goals to direct people to the flooring categories. I don't think there's much you could do with a floor coverings website. This seems good enough.
Cool
