awesome illustration! nicely done...nice typeface! ill use museo too on one of my designs in the future..^_^
I'm assuming once the icon is made smaller or put on the android, we won't be able to see the text that well anymore.
Otherwise, fab job, love the LED light reflection.
Cheers
Yeah, it will have to be modified when resized to app-icon size. This version is going to be used in this size for promotion and on the website.
Thanks for the feedback.
That should be a fun task then :) Hopefully you'll be able to stick to 64x64 and not have to hit 32 or worse 16 lol ;) Although I'm assuming you have to anyway as part of the gig.
Depending upon where the icon is going to be used and at what size you'll find the type to probably be too small
I would suggest larger font to fill more of the box
i love the amp but even beginner amps often have more knobs on them. think about three for EQ, volume, gain, and reverb. regardless it's nice!
Specially like the textures, but I agree with Noel. I think you should check it as 256x256 pixels.
Very good work, great illustration!
Looks good.
The really only thing i would change would be the size of the font. Reason being, when its on a cell phone it might be a bit hard to read.
Its honestly the only thing i can find, and its being a bit nit-picky!
Amazing work!
I love it overall, my only concern is that the GigBox text will be hard to read as you scale it down for a phone icon. However, making the text size too big will lose the realism of the amp. Play with the right overall and text size ratios. Looks awesome!
I think it really appeals to men. If that is Gigbox' main customer segment, that is great. If not, I would rethink. I assume that there will be some context around the icon that would make this more apparent, but if I saw it without know what it is for, it may not be clear that this is a concert app.
Very creative
Thank you for the feedback and interstering thoughts about wear and target audience.
WOW!
This is amazing. Really good work. All created in Illustrator, or with some PS love too?
I think what you have made is amazing. I would love to have seen the actual icon you made though. One thought is for the smaller icon, you could stack the words Gig and Box to fill out the square space more.
Great work!!
Awesome work.
But when I look at the size of the amplifier's feet, the buttons or the fabric texture in front of the speaker, I imagine it to be quite a big amplifier. This does not fit 100% with the size of the leather texture making up the border of the amplifier - this texture should be a little finer.
Hi,
The Icon looks great, i love it:)
I don't think there is anything you should change.
By the way what font did you use?
It depends on how and where the icon will be used, but I think that the text should be bigger to make it stand out more.
My only thought, is that if this is a an icon for the phone app, it's going to be really hard to read "GigBox". I would increase the size of GigBox so that you can read it, even if it is small. Great work though!
Thanks. This is not the version for the app it self. In that version there's only a large G on the front.
Great illustration, looks very professional.
The logo does look a tad small, with a LOT of empty space around it. I guess its true to how amps are in the real world, but for an icon device, I think you need to bend the rules.
Are there any other elements or features that you could add to tell more about what it does. Such as the GPS, photos, chat etc? Maybe bursting out, badges attached etc etc.
@chris Thank you for the great feedback. I think you're right the it needs something extra to really stand out as a logo/icon.
I will try to work more on it.
Thanks
It's awesome. Great work - did you use Photoshop for this?
I'm not sure how the android shows icons but the text may be too small?
Just saw your post about different versions of this icon. Great work!!!
i love the use of museo font, and i think that the negative space around the name is beautiful, but how small will the icon need to be scaled down to? would be nice to see metal letters arranged on an actual amp. or just a photographed amp with that text put on. instead of the almost real looking stylized amp. nice work
People say that the font is too small, but who reads the font on an icon?
Do I recognize the Preview app by the face of the kid in the photo? Or the Pathfinder app by that small text only visible at 256px and above? No way, it's all in the icon.
You nailed this one, congrats!
You killed me, there's absolutely nothing to change design-wise.
The only thing I can say is maybe turn the knobs a little to the right (or maybe each knob to a different direction, to make it seem like it is being used).
