    Footer undetected

Posted on Feb 12, 2010 at 11:32 AM

Isn't too dark here? Grays and blues are stylish, but they bring sorrow :)

Some empty spaces, no footer, links aren't underlined... I think this concept is ready for 60%.

Do not be offended, I think you should take 1-2 hours more to finish it up ;)

Thanks for the review Alec. I understand where you are coming from on the dark thing, but want to stay consistent with the current website design. Thanks again!

complete the blue line across the photo

Posted on Feb 12, 2010 at 11:41 AM

I am not sure about the arrow pointing down from WELCOME to LCBC. Since you have not used it elsewhere as a design element it doesn't really work. Maybe just have the WELCOME tab be 10 pixels lower with News Events and Current Series being raised 10 px? To indicate On vs Off status? Also maybe repeating the blue in the content below the tab as the "clicking here" link color or headline color will create unifiromity?

The Where and when in blue on the side is a bit distracting. And you already used the blue as a "link" color at the very bottom.

Consider continuing the blue bar across the photo so it wraps around the other end of the photo? With it ending it looks like a mistake.

Align the switch campus pulldown (make it as wide as the copy in the bottom side bar area) with the copy in the bottom sidebar area.

add a footer to ground the page and duplicate the links.

You make some valid points. I made some of them if you would like to take a look. Thanks for the feedback!

      nice.

how does it look when you left align the switch campus title at the top? it is just that everything else in that sidebar is left aligned.

yes and the footer grounds the page nicely.

one other thing I noticed is the Welcome to LCBC is really an important block of text and should be bigger than the news below (or if not bigger maybe highlighted somehow just to make it stand out)

The blue bar & minor layout issues

Posted on Feb 12, 2010 at 7:09 PM

    Hey Nate,

Its a nice design. However few things don't feel like they are placed properly (just my thoughts)

    1. The blue bar, does not feel a part of the website, maybe due to its location.

    2. The dotted lines below the paragraphs don't blend well with the design

    3. The dark sidebar on the right has a padding on its right. Which looks good. But when compared to the footer's blue line, it feels misplaced. Not sure what can be done to make it look proper, but just thought to mention it.

    Consistency

Posted on Feb 13, 2010 at 10:45 PM

I know you are trying to keep with the current lcb design while still making it fresh, but I would suggest incorporating a few more elements. They have a very simple navigation located at the top right of the site on the current page. I would suggest keeping this consistent. This will limit user frustration.

Would love to know why your target is church members, but this design is clearly targeted at new visitors. I would think a member would be looking for information on upcoming events, current message series, etc. I work for LiquidChurch.com and I know it is always a hard balance between new visitors and current members.

Purple buttom seems out of place.

I agree with Jon, you should either stretch the blue box across the entire window or shorten it.

IMO the purple button doesn't fit in with the design and color scheme. Either that or it's too dark.

    main navigation buttons

Posted on Mar 16, 2010 at 1:16 PM

It looks really good and I especially like the blurred image in the background.

I think the colors on the main navigation colors are not that exciting. Maybe the same colors could be used with some sort of texture?

    Colours

Posted on Feb 13, 2010 at 12:45 AM

The violet menu looks really odd! event the brown..

The footer line in blue ?

Why the bands are not in focus ? The crowd seems to be in focus ?

    Typography is good...
