    Logo treatment.

    Some things i noticed:

    • menu glows aren't OK.
    • choose: dirty or liquid? (logo vs the rest of the site)

    I like icons

Posted on Feb 12, 2010 at 5:24 AM

    Hi, Allvin!

I think you made good concept, but you have a much work to do to make it shine!

I like monochrome gamma, toothy borders. Your typography and blocks composition looks great!

But something i'd like to advice:

    1. I like icons. They attract me, they show me a logic of site and its style. Icons make sites awesome. Your concept need them. E-mail and phone number – they need small icons. "From the blog" bullets need to be shiny. Contact form asks to put icon under "message" string.

2.Buttons on your preview block are not OK. I don't want to click on them – may e I am not alone. Make them shiny and glossy – you'll get a lot of clicks. I don't get the idea of bottom buttons (with autoscroll) – why exactly 10?

    1. Front and development block – strings are too long. There have to be 6-8 words in one string to make text readable. Just make text shorter and make text area smaller. And put some good icon to the right %)

    2. Contact form is too white. Make it 50% opaque.

    Thanks for reading! :)

Your colors are killing this design

Posted on Feb 12, 2010 at 8:25 AM

I think you colors are really killing this design .The color blue you chose is just far too royal. Try using more muted blues. Just changing the colors I think would vastly improve this design. I have attached some possible color schemes for you below.

      Hi Nate,

I created that theme as a contrast layout :) but I am thinking of having one of the colour scheme I guess the 2nd strip as an alternate colour ...

      Thanks

    Colours, Font And Menu

Posted on Feb 12, 2010 at 7:19 PM

The layout is nice and organized, but few things you might want to work on are:

    1. The menu buttons. Try keeping them simple text only.

    2. The font in logo is not used anywhere else on the site. Secondly you have used sans-serif font in most part of the website, and then suddenly used serif fonts for the headers of main content. Try being consistent.

    3. The way you have placed the twitter, does not feel designed. As this is a portfolio site, you would have to given in your own style.

      Hi,

      1) Yeah Vlad Verde pointed out that.. I am working on improving that :)

      2) This logo is only a temporary logo, as I will sell this as a template :)

      3) I didn't get your point here.. Can you be please explain ..

      Thanks :)

Ahh, I just read my 3rd point, and I did not understand myself either. Sorry for that. What I meant was, the way you have placed the tweets, that box does not feel part of the website. It feels that you just created that rectangle and added tweets on top of it.

Try to blend it more into the website.
