hmm maybe the fade on the nerd guy?

Posted on Feb 12, 2010 at 6:35 PM

i love these colors, and that logo looks great! overall layout is well done, clean, not confusing at all.

for the nerd guy on index, im not to big on the fade. i imagine you had to though because the image you used probably cuts off there. if you have easy access to a nerdy guy that can be clipped without fading the edges that would be something i would change but otherwise this isn't a big issue.

the paint brush graphic on the about page made up for it :) i think it has great flow on that page.

the footer feels crowded on the left side. perhaps adjust the line height so it breaths more?

the blog section is looking good too. nice, clean, easy to read.

Thanks for the feedback Jennifer! I struggled with that image on the home page. I originally had him bottom justified so he stuck to the footer but when I ended up making the footer sticky to the bottom of the browser then in some cases when a person had their window in a more vertical format poor nerd guy was at the bottom by himself. I need to figure out a clever way to cut him off where the image ends.

Thanks for the feedback on the blog. I just posted a new article I wrote on drop-down menus. Let me know if you like it.

    Text Alignment

Posted on Feb 12, 2010 at 7:21 PM

    Great image.

As text consumes the major part of the design, its current alignment is very distracting.

Try aligning it in a much better way.

    Good Design

Lovely design and great 'caricature' like effect. Only the colors are bit hard on eyes.

Brilliant color combo and image used.

The feather effect on the home page image should be more smooth. Try masking in the layer option.

Try using a different font at the footer, You can try Tahoma which would definitely look better.

      Cheers :)

The design is fun but the person is just too scary and weird looking.

    Add silhouette to Scottsdale page.

Posted on Feb 17, 2010 at 11:26 AM

I would add a landscape-format silhouette of either Scottsdale or the desert just above the red border line as a nice finishing touch. Otherwise, it's a very clean design. Clive

    Call to action

Posted on Feb 17, 2010 at 11:35 AM

I like the overall design and color scheme, but i was left thinking "what do i do now"...the main nav links at the top were a bit small to be noticed immediately. I was expecting a "contact us now" or "learn about our abilities" link at the bottom of the main text.

    The blog background

Posted on Feb 17, 2010 at 12:49 PM

Overall a great design! Very well done.

As others have said, I would work on the blog. I feel like it should have the same tan background as the home page. I think that you would still have the design separation thanks to the header and sidebar.

Good site, really. There are similar websites, but I like what I am used to.

I was not quite sure what does mean that "Tenth Year" when i first saw it (and wondered if it is your logo.company name). Now It is quite obvious for me, that you are present on the market 10 years.

    Graphic coherence

Posted on Feb 18, 2010 at 2:51 PM

    Hi,

I like the idea to have a big picture on home page, but I think there's no coherence between the type of this pict and the rest of the site. No geek or techno, or graphic style on the rest of the site.

Maybe you should work on that.

    Killer hero image!

Posted on Apr 17, 2010 at 7:08 AM

I love that homepage image, it makes the site instantly intriguing, which I assume is the idea. Very nice grid, color scheme and typography. My only criticism would be the organization of styles.css and prettyPhoto.css. It really doesn't matter if you choose single line or multi-line, but you should use one or the other. Additionally, it is important to maintain a consistence indent for easier scanning and readability. While this has no impact on your typical client, you may loose business from tech-savvy clients who look under the hood prior to making a decision. More importantly, well organized code saves you time and headaches. Johnathan Christopher talks about creating style guides for your code on his blog (http://mondaybynoon.com/2010/03/29/establishing-style-guides/). Overall I think this site is top quality.

The Change Between The Site & The Blog

    Right space

Posted on Feb 11, 2010 at 11:59 PM

There is lots of white space at the right side.. I guess the guy can move little to right.. or can he go down so his body starts with the footer ? the bottom between him and footer makes it a bit odd..

    Very nice

Posted on Feb 12, 2010 at 12:16 AM

Engaging, I think the white space at the top looks a bit big (made it even with bottom?). Although it looks like that might be because more gets added to the navigation bar on other pages....The only thing I really see is that on the home page the logo doesn't align with any elements because the text is ragged right. Other page it isn't as bad, square logo hangs just right to write the copy text. I think you could have a better anchor point for it.

I love the arrows to view next project. You have arranged the work on the pages very nicely, big enough and not boring. Having it break out of the box helps break up the boringness boxes can create. Good work. This guy's photo is so silly I love it. Can you say 9th grade math teacher meet typography geek?

    Great design

Posted on Feb 12, 2010 at 8:19 AM

This is a great design, love the pic. The only place where I think it falls apart a bit is in the footer. The footer is pretty boring and bland to me. I would try to make that part more engaging. Other than that, great work here!

    footer

Posted on Feb 12, 2010 at 1:32 PM

yes improving the footer would help.

And the Sign up for our Newsletter links launches what feels like a contact form. (asking for Questions/Comments) it might be nice to use a little jQuery to expose a simplified newsletter sign up form for the Newsletter link.

But overall it feels like a high quality site and the work looks really good! kudos

Shirnk content in main promo area

Posted on Feb 12, 2010 at 2:33 PM

I like the overall color scheme you have worked with but from my first glance I am unsure of what you want me to know about your website / services.

Home Page: Some of the most Effective agency sites are able to present their core values, elevator pitch, or services within 2 to 4 lines of H1 or H2 sizing.

The main graphic is good but it loads separate from the css background so if a user is running slower internet or multiple windows image downloads in pieces.

What is the main "Call-to-Action? Where do you want users to click to move to the next page on your site? Would recommend adding a very defined click thru button..

My 2 cents - Feel free to contact me if you more feedback.

You gave me some great things to think about Sean. I am really re-thinking the home page content now to see how I can get people to the different areas of the website like the portfolio and blog.

The main image loads slowly because I am pre-loading some images from the portfolio. I need to figure out a way to load the main image first.

Np, I find so many greatly designed websites don't call out the direction clearly where you want your visitors to go. For your case I would assume the portfolio or services is the next step in engaging a viewer.

      Thanks!
