    The content Area

Posted on Feb 04, 2010 at 4:37 PM

Design no matter good or bad has to do certain work. Yours does it.

I like that you kept the main heading "Help Jose now" larger than the logo and anything else.

Only things I would like to be worked on are:

    1. The background green behind header and footer are of different shade. It would look better if its consistent.

    2. The footer feels too tight. It would be better to re-organize them.

    3. The content area would need more padding/spacing between borders and text.

    4. Try to left align the "Share" Follow & join links.

    5. Creating more space between the 3 columns of content, and left align things on the right most column.

    Hope that works.

Harish, thank you for your review.

As far as the header and footer - they are part of the current CMS and just what I have to work with. I have addressed those issues in our redesign, but this is what I have to work with for now.

Thanks for your other input as well.

    added call to action

Posted on Feb 05, 2010 at 6:38 AM

How about adding a clearer call to Action - closer to the main content (thinking of maybe a bigger red button: Donate now) either below the intro text or below the "Fund Goal" summary.

Also maybe make the funding progress bar slightly thicker and try to accentuate the gap needed to be funded (ie other color, discreet animation)

Other than that, I find that the design works very well and is fairly clean.

Yeah good call with the call to action - in fact I did add one if you check the link and see the live mockup you'll see it there. If you haven't already, why not visit the live mockup and give me any additional thoughts on the markup and interactive. Thanks!

Yes - that'ss good. I should have checked the livee mockup as I did assume that the "Help Jose now" was a hyperlink to the same page (Donate Now). How about doing that?

also: thumbnail of uploaded photos in status stream?

Like in general what is a call to action? A call to action is anything you want your user to do. There are lots of types such as signing up for a newsletter, purchasing your product, or in this case, donating money is the primary call to action. There are others in our project too, like sharing the page, following the page, etc.

    Looks good

Posted on Feb 05, 2010 at 8:19 AM

While i think this looks good and works overall, I really miss your previous design on this. What happened to it? i think that design looked really high end and creative. It sounds like this might be an interim design? At any rate, the content area looks really good, my critique is with the header. I don't like the bright green background. The rest of the site looks very good though.

Thanks Nate - yes, the header and footer are part of the current CMS. We are in the process of the total redesign, but since the site is so large scale it's going to be a few months before we begin to implement it.

Part of the goal of this page was to create the content so it would fit well in the new design, and also fit OK in the current one until we get to the new design.

      I don't like the header, either. :)

Well, in that case, I think you're spot on here. Good work!
