It's no very very clean with this heavy background. I don't like the typography. The text in the header and "footer" is difficult to read. The menu is looks very strange when it's cut off with white space. The layout is ok.

    background and nav

Posted on Feb 05, 2010 at 7:26 AM

I like the general layout, but it looks a little unfinished. Here are a few things that I noticed:

    • As everyone is saying, the background is too bold. Knock down the opacity by about half. Will you be able to make this into a pattern so it will seamlessly fill the entire background? This will help make the logo stand out more, too.

    • The last white block in the nav is taking over as the focal point in this section. I would increase the size of the nav font and extend the nav blocks so the 3 fill the entire space.

    • I think the triangles are too strong. I would slide them up about half way so just a little bit of the point shows. This will make it much more subtle and draw less attention.

    • I'm not sure where the blue font fits... Maybe stick with the dark gray/brown or black.

    • The Read more links could be improved. They look very basic.

    Lose the background

The background is way too overpowering. I would say get rid of it for something else far more simplistic. A few of those circles at the top may not be bad, depending on how you do it. The changes you made to the actual page look pretty good. I would extend the grey side bar all the way to the bottom of the page.

I agree with everyone, the background is too overpowering.

I like my layout, but not sure on the colour scheme, i think i will do some more work on the background and the colour scheme.

    Background should be subtle

Hey Alan, I think you tried to take all the suggestions from the last concept feedback, but I don't think it helped.

The header of the earlier concept was good, it just needed editing/polishing.

This background feels bit overdone. You might want to fade it more.

Suggestions: - use the earlier header but work on it more to enhance it. - Your website deals with films. Try colours that would make the site look trendy/ glamorous.
