    i almost really like this

Posted on Feb 03, 2010 at 2:35 PM

my first impression was that it was good, but something was bothering me, and upon closer inspection, i think it's the fact that it's not symetrical, which is fine, but this doesn't look like it is assymetrical on purpose, more just like an accident, i would fix that and see how it does. you might also try a superscript or something like that, on the "on" in the name.

You are correct. I meant part of this to look "something" like a butterfly and it is done purposely that way. I did not want a same-old perfectly symmetrical flower. I am currently working on it standing out more so this proves that the contrast needed work. Thank you!

    Great start

This is a great direction, here's a few things:

    1. The divider is pretty distracting. Try to choose a divider that is less distracting and more elegant...maybe even just a thin solid line.
    2. If there is any way that you can extend salon & spa or shorten Leo's on chocolate, I would.

Great work so far though, keep it up!

    font

Posted on Feb 03, 2010 at 2:46 PM

This has the potential to look high-end, but the font doesn't fit. It looks like a very basic typewriter font. I think you need something fancier, similar to (but more unique) the font used in Salon and Spa. Then, tighten up the kerning.

I think I'd use the same solid stroke for the divider as the one used in the flower.

Thanks Andy, I'm already working on an updated version with this consideration applied. I appreciate your time!

    Not much!

I really like it. I would maybe try bolder fonts, once you shrink this baby down it might be hard to read.

    Great work!

Thanks Jose. I agree with you. The update I'm working on emphasized Salon & Spa since that's more important to convey with they do, and I think it's done wonders for the message.

    remove or replace divider line

Posted on Feb 04, 2010 at 9:40 AM

It's a great looking logo but I would consider changing the divider line -- maybe match it to the same line type used in the flower design?

    Kerning

Posted on Feb 03, 2010 at 2:32 PM

Well done but I am concerned about the top heavy'ness here with still so much space between the lettering. Also, the two different fonts... is there a reason one isn't good enough?

Great color scheme and concept but I would work on the "stacking" and the kerning a bit more.

I agree, thanks for making me look at those important details again.
