    also don`t get it

Hi Samuel, I didn`t look at the former concepts, I think it is better to look what your current version looks like.

    Let us analyze it:

    1. the fist thing I see is a logo which I don`t understand. I am not native english, so perhaps I miss something. But for me it is confusing.
    2. second I a "connect us with...". Hell, WHY? Why should I connect??? This is the most prominent element on first view and I don`t understand what it is all about.
    3. Okay, next my eyes see a plein tagline which I understand... somehow. Tools for successful living. Okay. With the text beneath it I think you do something like personal training. Fine.
    4. Okay, it is a stock photo, but... Father and son fishing. Successful living. Don`t work at a first glance.
    5. There is a text under the picture (I think with the 7th different font so far). Okay, acknowledged, seems so be something with time management.
    6. Sign up now?! WHY?
    7. Next phrase in the box with round corners (4th different radius). Again: Sign up for better something. Life, time management, skills. No matter what... sign up.

Don`t get me wrong, I only went through it and tried to tell you what I think and what I understood.

Try something different: 1 image. 1 logo. 1 font up to 3 sizes. 2 colors max. Forget about the rest. Put together a kind of wireframe and try to tell me what this site is all about. Form follows function, if the raw concept works, you can redefine it afterwards.

Thanks for the feedback MH. All very valid points. I will take this and see what I can come up with.

For the record there are only 2 fonts on this version. The Logo Font and then the rest is Trebuchet MS in different styles (Bold, Italic, All Caps) and sizes.

    Just few things needed

Posted on Feb 04, 2010 at 3:55 PM

    Hi Samuel,

Sometimes layouts are good, but due to few things/elements which hit the eye, we tend to not like it.

if you do few things to current layout, I feel it would look much better:

    1. If you are not using a grid, do use one now. The logo would much better if it just stayed in the same width as the text "personal and.." below it.

    2. Remove the yellow background from top. Keep only the login area on the top and move the social medial icons to somewhere else.

    3. Am not sure if you have using rules for text size/formatting, but if you aren't do work on it, so that it feels uniform.

    Busy

Posted on Feb 03, 2010 at 2:25 PM

Everything here just luck busy. The rounded corners still aren't working for me. I would start over on this to get the best results. There just isn't any flow to the design. Very broken up and segmented. Keep working here...

Ok, I'm at a loss here. I mean, I took everyone's feedback and pretty much did it. Only thing is the rounded corners. I like them. I've put over 8 hours of additional time on this site and have nothing to show for it. Back to the drawing board I guess.

Sometimes the best thing you can do is start over on a project. Been there many of times, i know how a feel. Keep at it!

Ok I finally figured out what it is that you do

Posted on Feb 03, 2010 at 5:49 PM

But it's still not working for you...

There a few things that come to mind:

    1. th e logo - is very odd you have coins, and at the tag line says not accounting! - Well then don't have coins!
    2. Like Nate said it's still very busy
    3. Your typography is all over the place
    4. Colours - try and tone these down a bit
    5. Main Nav should be alongside Logo at the top, otherwise people will get lost and leave the site

A bit of work to do, Good Luck!

Thanks for the feedback guys. I really appreciate it. Don't mean to sound negative but for someone, me, to have been doing web design for as long as I have, I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing. The feedback has been great, don't get me wrong, but having tried to make it work and continue to fail does not feel good.

There is no main nav. The blue bar under the main image is a jquery content slider. See my previous entries to see the changes in that. I specifically made changes to that so users would not think it was a nav bar.
