    It is busy...

I am overwhelmed! I don't know what to do on this site. Try to highlight your different features without repeating yourself too much. Make it more streamlined and interesting.

Thank you, we are working on a more cleaned up version. This one had copy as received from our writers. We are due for another iteration

    Layout, Font & Colours

    Hi Sameer,

Your design is really looking very busy. The top section is good, but as you scroll down, it just gets busier. What you can do is: 1. Use different colours for headings. Currently the content is not distinguished. You need to use different colours, lines, rectangles or something else to create kind of sections for your website.

    1. Use tabs, JavaScript where necessary to display and hide content as and when needed.

Thanks, I will make headings bolder and make them stand out. Will experiment with different heading colors as well and run that by our designer.

    UI

Posted on Jan 30, 2010 at 12:07 PM

From a user's point of view, I think there is a need for much more 'guidance', eg a clearer hierarchy in the information you are presenting. The path followed by the reader's eye is very 'jumpy', the main point of focus is kind of lost at the top, the ad is very distracting, and the overwhelming amount of text isn't inviting as it is.

    very wordy

Posted on Jan 30, 2010 at 10:03 AM

I would say on first impact this is very wordy and therefore a little daunting.

Your first three column (feature )breakouts could have more meaning full icon type graphics break down the words or even replace words as section headers. I would be tempted to go more sensational link than wordy explanation on home page .

i belief a branding icon (logo picture is perhaps necessary) for what I am assuming is a school/college/university demographic.

In short reads like a mid term paper rather than a fun challenge.

Ok I am confused I could not get on the link before review know I can and most of what I mention here is implemented on the site. What is it you want reviewed ? the link or the concept media image featured here.?

    advertising

Posted on Jan 30, 2010 at 10:24 AM

OK, so not sure if I really like this better than your current site. Your current site is nice, especially the three steps.

The consistent use of color on the new page is nice, but it also feels a lot more plain. That can work, I think, but when you have inturuptive advertising (banner ads), it might be hard to compete with the color and design in the ads with such a minimalist design. I guess that same reasoning could work to your advantage too, thinking that your design distinguishes the ads more from the content...so it's a toss up.

One thing I'll just say here is that the web is moving away from traditional advertising supported business models and toward web applications that are self-supportive in their own business model - except with sites that publish primarily free content, but again - I think you're going to see that change more and more over time. So just a thought and I know your probably not looking for feedback on your business model here but I'm giving it anyway - you might want to consider a business model that uses free, and a variety of paid for versions of your content/service.

Back to the design...what I DO love in your new design is how you've used a single color to distinguish links. Very smart.

    You need more engagement

Posted on Feb 01, 2010 at 7:56 AM

This design is neat, clean and organized but lacks any sort of excitement and engagement. I would try to infuse this thing with some more excitement. Use pictures, colors, textures, borders, etc. Breathe some life into this. The first place I look is your ad banner. That should be secondary for sure. Your logo isn't a bad start but keep tweaking it and playing around with it. There is a lot of imagery that you could inject in to the logo. Keep working on this site. You have a basic layout, now just make it more exciting.

    Too minimal

Posted on Feb 05, 2010 at 2:46 PM

Every section could be more distinctive.

Each section should be (visually) more easy to understand.

A subtle gradient in background or bolder font color may help.

    images

Posted on Feb 07, 2010 at 8:09 AM

I understand this is more of a "admin tool" but nevertheless I suggest you use more images to give some life to it. Try how a picture of some happy quiz takers would fit in the top section - So that it would direct the user´s eye towards the form field that is now a bit uninviting.

    too much white background

Posted on Jan 30, 2010 at 9:23 AM

It does look messy, because the content is not clearly separated, and I don't like the ads - they are too close to the content sometimes. Could you maybe not place the very very large banners? That would be much more user-friendly. People are banner-blind anyway, these days :>

    Highlight the most important info

Posted on Feb 01, 2010 at 7:25 AM

Too much info, my easy hurts. Use whitespaces, typography and graphics, to separate information, highlight the more important information. Users will get lost now
