I like it.
Just wondering how it would look if the d and g were more squished together like the g and e. You end up with three different spacings between all the letters. The first e and d have space, the d and g just kiss, and the g and e at the end are on top of each other.
i was thinking the very same thing. it would be great to unify the style of letter connection.
The last concept is really well done! Don't color the "e" though. Keep it all the same color. Good work here though!
I really like the 3rd design. the whole logo has a minimalistic feel, and the line with the shadow is really not needed. it takes away from the minimalistic elements and makes it look more tacky (not that it is tacky at all!)
by the way, I love the colours... very vibrant. perfect for a design company
I think no.2 is the best. The longer arm of D gives character to the design.
Good work!
I like it :) The first one is my favorite, second seems to high and third is missing that edge detail. Reminds me of mine logo which uses similar font :)
The logo is very good looking.
I just ask myself ... will the logo always be on the nice background. For instance, you put the logo on a postcard with a white background... will it still work...
But overall it's a nice logo ;-)
Keep up the good work!
The logo looks nice, but I don't like the "design - web - media"
Web is one of many media, and design can go across all media, so it doesn't make sense.
I am guessing that what they do is web and print design, so "web & print design" "online & print design" or just "design" would be better.
OR
come up with something a bit more creative like "21st century design"
UNLESS I have understood this wrong and media refers to media buying, in which case it doesn't make sense that you are not promoting "advertising", which would make you a full service agency
I would go with #3 for simplicity sake. Not so sure if color on E is needed.
Everything just feels good. I'd drop the shadow between the logo and the text beneath it.
I've got the feeling it would look cleaner.
I'd definitely, go for the 3rd one.
The 3rd concept is great.
I think the dropshadow thing would work better the other way around; I mean to have the "edge" on the edge, not in the "pit" below.
Also as a symbol, edge would imply more cutting edges and less rounded elements. Even though they look great.
The "hole" effect on the first one makes it too busy for me. Also might look strange at lower res / smaller size.
The 'd' in the second one looks too long. And I prefer the reduced letter spacing in the first and the third.
The third one is my favorite. Smart use of typography. Looks great!
shaun, you've created a very popular concept. the name is short & sweet, and to the point. i read through many other posts, and didn't seem to find anyone else that thought the e on the end looks a bit odd. the first e has reason for being incomplete.. because it is being covered up by the "d" curve. but the last e seems like it should just look lowercase natural.. with a connected center and top, or even a complete circle with a horizontal line through it.
i agree with eric that the letter connections are all doing something different, and it would be stronger to unify their style. ..by either pulling them all apart, just barely connecting all of them or overlapping all. the d and g might have trouble overlapping and still looking separate... i see the struggle.
im excited for all the possibilities you have with this..! by printing it right on the EDGE of your business cards, and letterhead.. you'll need to bleed off the side! i hope you utilize the edge of the paper~ whether its folded or cut.. or the edge of web browsers, or show it printed and photographed if its being shown online~ it has beautiful possibilities.. i tried making the "e" complete, hope you dont mind, its a fun shape to work with!
i think the g getting cut off is great. but instead of tucking it into a pocket... i think it should be cut off.. as if on the edge of the paper... you could cut off the last e too.. could do different things with it, very versatile :)
The 3rd one is perfect but I agree with Alexis.. you should change the dashes to dots.
Nice logo my friend.
I loved your last concept and adding this color really made it ever better. the third concept is the new best of this three : ) Great work!!
The green hurts a little on the eyes.
I would just get rid of the shadow altogether. The shadow is a very contemporary effect. Honestly it's already quite overused, but in a year, 5 years, it will look crazy dated (obviously you'd update the logo by then, but just sayin).
Anyway I don't think the shadow really ads anything. Looking at the last design you have here I think it's strong the way it is.
Which by the way you've done a great job with this thing. I'm really feeling the neon green highlight. I say the third comp is your winner as is.
Great work!!
Oh, and I still feel like that "d" and "g" belong closer together, such as you have the "g" and final "e".
The third one is great, congratulations
I would go with the option 3. Definitely not the #2, it looks more stretch or pulled.
In the first option, the black cutout / shadow effect somehow doesn't really look perfect. Maybe it may look better in the website when it placed with other elements.
Third looks more elegant and eye catching. Good work!
I just think the green color could be softer, , but i really liked the idea.
Very edgy design. Love the color combination. However, I prefer the 3d concept as the line in the 1st one breaks with the flow and the background is too black in the 2nd concept.
The concept sounds good but I don't think it works out in practice. #3 is my favorite, for the clarity, simplicity, and for the fact that #4 does look at bit odd with the "dg" smooshed together. If you're really wanting to do something with the shadow, have you tried putting it elsewhere, maybe flipped vertically and below the "design - web - media"?
I like more the last one because it is cleaner and the downer edge are more visible ( edgy)...
Love the green, it was not necessary but it's not bad.
Maybe the second one d is better and as other I got trouble with the g. Maybe it can continue below your line of text.
The 3rd concept is by far the strongest. The eye is not distracted by the black hole and still gets its point accross.
I agree with Steve Wilmes. 3rd version looks ok. With 2 first black hole is not needed. And i think you know to have this green on print must use "paint from can" (unable do it in CMYK)
Number 3 is the best of the three. Although I like the black cutout on 1 & 2, it distracts you from the company name. The third one is both clean and edgy :)
I like them all but I would go with the 3rd.
Hi, Shaun,
I would go with the last one without the drop shadow on there. I see it was suggested on your previous version of the logo. Though, never use shadows when not needed. Plus, it's a logo not an icon, catch my drift?
I love the font and the yellow/green color you used.
Though, have you tried switching from dashes to dots between Design - Web - Media?
That's the one thing I would suggest.
I like the first one. Its more sharpen, heavy...
The second shadow is much better than the first one, although I'd make its darkness and distance to grow smoother, so it looks like it's dropped by a smooth arc raising from the background.
Also, dots instead of dashes will be better to my mind.
nice design, in agreement with other comments third version without the shadow is the best. I like the luminous green though another colour may work well, I always like to use the hue tool in ps to get quick glimpse of what it might look like acroos the colur scale. Good work.
I like the color used in the logo. I love the use of the shadows in the logo, but as some have mentioned, it's a logo and shadows should be avoided. But I still say it's a neat design.
I think you've nailed it with the third design. The green provides some nice contrast and the letter g looks cool how it is cut off at the bottom. Nice Job.
amazing! very simple yet very amazing design! nice job! ^_^
I like the overall design, especially the typeface used for it, its quite... edgy, for lack of a better word.
If whomever you designed this for specifically asked for these colors, then disregard my critique portion of my review. I think the colors are a little too corporate-esque for a designer, however, it may be what this designer in particular is going for.
Your comment about the colours i very valid as i am the designer that i am designing for. And i didn't realise it gave a corporate impression. I might try a few different colours and see what it looks like.
i think your asking your viewers to understand a lot about design. the font is really quite cool
if you didn't tell them that it was called "edge" would they still be able to get it? i question this. although very cool looking, if this is a logo for a business you may lose potential clients because they weren't able to read your graphic. however - you may not want those people as your clients in the first place. (but your target market is all ages.). what might someone mistake the word for? ask a couple of non-graphic people what it reads as - it may just be me.
overall i love the "professional" nature of it. the colors work for me as the "e" really stands out and it's not necessarily a safe color. the background focused dissolve is great. i think it shows you as being professional and creative.
the third one is your best version.
