The logo seems to have a lot of negative area in the top right corner that lets the eye fall off the design.
Also the kerning in the blalock needs some work. There is too much space between the lock. I prefer version 2 with the contrast differences between the LB.
Good start it just needs some fine tuning
Thanks for the feedback. I can't believe I missed the kerning. I'll work on that.
Looking to your logo, I can't say the name of the company. The big B is confusing for the reading
It's also because your url is not wel readable, can I suggest to name your site laura-blalock.com?
I read it as Lah Blah lock but it took a minute to get my head round it.
Perhaps consider using another font as the basis for the LB part, which is clever but perhaps a font with a smaller cap height and something wider. Also try having the text beneath the logo or fit the height of the logo.
Definitely try a different font for the la blalock and make sure your text is properly kerned (don't rely on autokern, break up your text and manually kern everything till they are perfectly the same between letters).
I also agree with using your full name, not the l.a. which I find rather distracting. And try to design the logo without the sub text, and make sure the sub text does not "alter" the logo but is an appendage.
I don't mind what you have done with the "LB" but think it could be better. I don't like the play between the imagery and the wording. Try creating a much more bold feeling logo. This feels week and unfinished. Just some of my thoughts, hope they can help.
I like the third option best, but the spacing is off in "blalock"
Including the "usable web design" is a good idea, but I'd stick with all lowercase
The LB is too tall for what you've done with teh rest of hte logo, it maakes things a bit incohesive.
Personally, I think you could accomplish the same concept with a bit more depth by simply adding a bit of variance to the stroke width.
I love the LB part especially in #3, the color contrast between the L and the B make the logo stand out, but I would maybe use bolder colors. Not a fan of the font for the l.a. blalock part. However, I do think that the tag line, Usable Web Design, is just the right size. Small enough that it doesn't take away from the logo, but also readable enough that you can tell what the website is about.
I just see a pregnant lady in the L and B. The rest has already been said - kerning, font, colors.
Hi there - to me, the logo does not seem appropriate for a web designer - it just doesn't fit.
If it were for a lawyer or accountant, this would work, but for a web designer, it just doesn't.
I like the way you've created the L and B together - you can still use this graphical device, but it needs to be treated in a different way, same with the font.
Great idea, and a good start - good luck.
The kerning is not goog on "lock" especially. I relly get confused with tha logo. I first check for a lock ( don't know why) in the concep. after I tried to read. But it took me time. I was questionning myself, is it Blablalock is it lablalock or LA ( los Angeles) blalock.
i like the font , but not the colors too much...maybe if you play with differents colors , like green or othr color that it goes with the font ,,,otherwise its really nice good job
