Get rid of the annoying pop up

Posted on Jan 18, 2010 at 6:54 PM

I didn't like have to click the next button to view more photos, better to have a slide show.

I didn't like the pop up asking me to talk online now, I clicked it down, then another different one appeared. Very annoying.

    Good start

I like where you're going with this but and forgive me if I come of as rude, I think this looks a little unfinished.

    I would..

    1) Make the tiger image span the whole width, maybe even add more images of animals in there like a collage (since it is a zoo!).

    2) Remove the 'Contact us' button + briefcase

    3) make the nav for the slideshow semi transparent/translucent. I think that would complement the colors etc.

    4) put the bar with phone number somewhere in the header, since that's where it usually goes. Maybe drop the background of the bar if it's drawing too much attention away from the other elements.

Besides that, I think you have a nice design.

    Good job!

    paperclips

Posted on Jan 18, 2010 at 10:39 PM

not sure the paperclips are needed or even appropriate. I would like to see it fleshed out a bit more with text and content. I love the color palette but would like to see at least one muted warm color as an accent. very clean and easy to navigate. good job.

    Looks great

This looks really good, just a few tweaks here and there. Your logo doesn't seem to match the level of craftsmanship on the site. I would try and redo it to match the quality of the website. Your header bar feel a little odd. I think you need to redo this area. I don't like how the bar on the bottom of the image carousel cuts everything off yet you seem to use as a floor with 3d items on it. The perspective is pretty off in my estimation. Lastly, the 3 pieces of paper on the blue bar feel unfinished. Throw a sentence or two under the heading of each piece of paper describing what is on the page. Hope this all helps, let me know if you have any questions. Great work so far!

    color

great start, but you need more color. try to break text into smaller sections and make it more engaging with lots of photos!

    Too heavy on top

Posted on Jan 19, 2010 at 11:29 AM

I like the color scheme and direction you are going, but the top 40% of the site is just an image and a contact us. Contact you about what? What is this site? It's not until you go to the very bottom that you know what it is. You should really have your introduction paragraph or headline up top to give the user an idea of what the site is right off the bat. Don't make them look for it.

You also need to use a grid. Several alignment issues.
