    Great start

Posted on Jan 15, 2010 at 8:21 AM

This is a great start but in general you need to simplify things. The background is very busy and needs to be more subtle. I'm not sure I like the blue gradient line going across the page. Keep the content on the background, no need to add another background image element. Just my thoughts, hope they help!

    Looks fantastic!

I like this a lot. Like Nate said, the blue line gradient in the header it sort of distracting. Maybe a dark gray gradient like the one near the footer would look a little better. I think it looks amazing.

Thank youuu! Yeah, I've been working on the footer but I just don't wanna crowd it too much.

    I love the Header!

Posted on Jan 15, 2010 at 2:33 PM

The header and content area will look Fantastic once the images are placed into your gallery. The only area i see needs work is the footer ... It is lacking the pop the rest of your site has. How about Social media Icons? A quote or contact call to action?

Your tag line seems a little off though "green by design", I know it may be picky but there is no green or eco friendly references anywhere in the comp except the header.

I want to see the next revision!

Thanks for the praise, Scott! And the critique! I've made all of those changes and am working on getting the newest revision up soon. <3

    Getting there

Posted on Jan 15, 2010 at 3:12 PM

Definitely has potential i'd say. However the body content is very stretched out. Start using a grid and divide it up so that the copy is easier to read. I'm thinking maybe the background graphic is a little "too much". Perhaps define it more so it gives the user something to focus on.

Thanks for the tip! I've done just that in the revised version.

    Footer

Posted on Apr 25, 2010 at 11:46 AM

Man I love your work! Not many people can make such bright vibrany colors work, but you can!

I love everything about this design except the footer t just doesn't do the rest of the site justice. Perhaps an overlay of subtle texture might give it the life that the res tof the page has.

    Keep up the excellent work!

    Footer!

Posted on Jan 15, 2010 at 1:09 AM

Sorry, had to say it :) It's everybody's fav comment on this board :D I really like it and I'm sure it will sell more than your previous design (i.e. plus points for purpose).

Maybe a Call to Action would help somewhere, free quote, etc.? Look forward to the live piece :)

    Cheers

    Noel

Thanks for the comments, Noel but... what about the footer? I do plan to add one, just haven't gotten around to it yet lol.

Looking Good Billie, this is the style that suits you best. I agree with Noel, bring a call to action in your footer! (sorry this is kind of funny, but I did the exact opposite in my portfolio page)

You are very talented, I can't wait to see the final version!

    nice!

Posted on Jan 15, 2010 at 2:46 AM

This is - by far - your best portfolio design so far!

The colour palette and transparencies are lovely and vibrant.

Noel and Aaran have already mentioned the footer, so here are a few other things that caught my eye:

    1) Move or change the diagonal lines in the header area to the right.

    2) The text in the content area is somewhat understated, yet this information is vital for potential (and current) clients. Perhaps a different text colour would help; alternatively, you could separate the information into different areas so that important points are easy to digest. The list of your technical expertise would be easier to read if it was presented in a list format, for example.

I'm looking forward to your next version - awesome job!

    Improve readability

Posted on Jan 15, 2010 at 3:14 AM

Combination of colors are superb , but navigation text color is not clearly readable , try to make it little brighter gray.

    Logo is awesome.
