    Great Concept!

Posted on Jan 14, 2010 at 1:46 PM

Hey Noel Really love the design. A lot of improvement since the last concept. I love everything, except for the "metallic" border in the bottom image. To be totally honest, I actually like your current design best. BTW, in what country do you live?

    tacks

Posted on Jan 14, 2010 at 5:23 PM

This looks really wonderful! Fresh yet clean!

I think you should play with the tacks, they don't seem to match the rest of the page.

    Great job!

    Magic Tape Not So Magical

Posted on Jan 15, 2010 at 12:28 AM

Noel, if Excel is your forte, I'd love to see a spreadsheet sometime.

Amazing design once again. Another great use of realism to really bring the concept to life. Love the textures. Generous and intelligent use of white space. The only thing that kinda bothers me is that strip of crumpled magic tape above the main copy. I know it adds to the realism but I just don't find it all that attractive. I don't know if you'd consider using some other prop like a paper click or thumbtack, etc.

Otherwise, I might suggest shrinking the thumbnails down a tad (people tend not to bother to click on thumbs when they give away so much already). And the whiteboard is a little overpowering. How about dropping those thumbs onto a corkboard? Just a thought.

    Awesome job!

    Footer

Posted on Jan 15, 2010 at 3:20 AM

Where's the footer? Get one of those added, and your off and running.

I do agree with Nate to an extent with regards to the whiteboard, i would stick with the paper theme too.

Maybe instead of the whiteboard, use the banner in the content areas and make that extent down. There won't be much need for you to keep the banner going in all the other pages. Just a thought though.

Great design, and far better than the previous version.

Like where you're going with this

Posted on Jan 15, 2010 at 9:12 PM

I do like where you're going with this, though I do think the pins on the pictures draw too much attention, maybe make the smaller, or move them over to one side.

    Good work though!!

    Very Nice

Posted on Jan 18, 2010 at 9:49 PM

I like the subtle use of color in the UI and background. This really allows the photography to shine. Love the subtlety of custom drop-shadows. Great payoff for taking the extra effort and thinking! I agree with comments about the metallic border. That's not working for me. I'd use a "paper" panel similar to the other panels or consider allowing this page to 'drop' the top panel for a more content-specific layout.

    I do like this...

Posted on Jan 14, 2010 at 1:57 PM

The only thing I would change would be the pins in the photos...

maybe just have them less organised more like scattered across the page.

    Great work!

Like to see a footer in there

Posted on Jan 20, 2010 at 7:51 AM

LOVELY design work. Just really feelin' it. Not sure how much the nav items work for me though. And I don't really like the way you've used the stuff you do at the very top of the page - not terrible, just don't like it very much.

Like your featured content area alot. Overall, great work!

    ditch the real world

Posted on Jan 20, 2010 at 8:06 AM

I think you should ditch the 'real world' bits, like the tacks and the metalic frame 0- with out thise it would look nice

Needs some type of "call to action"

Posted on Jan 20, 2010 at 8:17 AM

    Noel,

I missed the first round review of your site. So, I am not sure what the purpose of the design is. I am assuming it is a website for a photography company.

I like the style. Perhaps the steel color is a little cold.

    Everything's great. Good job.

I'm not totally digging the metallic border in the second pic though...

    Great job. Seriously!

    Very nice

Posted on Jan 14, 2010 at 1:46 PM

Completely different from where you started, but I do like the progress. Here are some things I would do:

    1. Tighten up the navigation and align right.
    2. Add a tinted bar to the top of the page and put the line of text by the logo in the bar at the top.
    3. Add some sort of tagline within the logo header, maybe nested directly under the navigation?
    4. Lose the white board. It feels too literal and cartoony. I like your paper theme that you have, continue that theme to the inner pages.
    5. Add a footer to your pages here.

This is a great start and is positioned to be a fantastic site, great work my friend!

    great work

This is a very nice looking site. Just a couple of things before you call this finished:

In the header, shorten the width of it by bringing in the back two browser windows more, so you don't show as much of them. Bring the light ray in and center it behind the large window. On the demo page, in the section marked "latest", you could improve it to look more like the other pages. Right now there is just one row and it feels very empty. Needs more content in that area. Other than those things, I think you have a very nice site. Very well done, keep at it!
